Sounds like your computer has a built in sound chip.
In your case the RealTek HD Audio Output is the correct choice.
Now on the bottom of the screen in the task bar. Is there a small Icon that looks like a Red Speaker with sound coming from it?
That is the RealTek Sound Manager. If so open it up and pick Sound Manager. Then look for a tab called Audio IO. That is where you can pick your sound type. Try two channel stereo and connect the speakers cable to the Green Audio Jack.
If you don't have that icon on the task bar. You may see a speaker icon. Clicking on that can also be used just less choices like reverb etc.
You may even have both icons. I would try the RealTek one first as it has more features and choices.
In the Control Panel you may also see the RealTek HD Sound Manager as a choice. You can get to it there if going through the Task Bar is not a choice.

I am having the same problem installing my LS11 speakers. I recently had to replace my monitor--it had built in speakers.I have tried all three possible connections on the back of my tower. The only choice I find in Control Panel/Audio is Intel(r) Integrated Audio and Modem #0 Playback.I'm fairly certain I have a sound card...don't know where in the world to look for it...or which spot of the three on my tower connect to it!! HELP!
