I am not exactly sure what is causing this problem, but occasionally while playing music on Winamp, the speakers will entirely freeze up. Audio will stop on the computer (I mean all audio, even if I use another application), the LCD screen on the speakers will freeze , and when I close and reopen Winamp another instance of Winamp will still be running. So I have to turn off the speakers, go to task manager turn off any Winamp processes that are still on, turn the speakers back on, and then reopen Winamp. That fixes the problem 50% of the time, the other 50% I actually have to unplug the USB cable from my computer or even unplug the power adapter prior to turning the speakers back on. If anyone has a solution to this, it would be greatly appreciated because I've looked in this forum for awhile and most problems I find are with installing, volume control, and some others, but never fully frozen audio. I've had these speakers for a good 4 months now, and it has been doing this about once or twice a week. I updated the drivers, and it is my default sound device. Works perfectly when it works, but kind of annoying when it fails. Thanks for the help.
My PC Specs:
Sony Vaio CR
Vista Ultimate
Intel Core2Duo T7100 (1.8 Ghz)

Hi dark,
The only drivers the speaker needs come from the OS. SO make sure your OS is up to date. There are a couple of patches Microsoft has put out when running 2 or more USB audio deviices. Make sure that if you have another USB audio device plugged in you have applied these patches. The software provided for the LCD manager ie the display, has to be the version for Vista, downloadable from our web site.
The fact that there are multiple instances of Winamp running is odd. The speakers are not capable of calling an application. Could you uninstall Winamp and install the newest version? The speakers should not be connected via a hub.
That's about all I can think of at the moment. Please let me know how you make out.
Thank you for your post.

My speakers are not connected via a hub. My OS is up to date and LCD Manager was the Vista version downloaded directly from the Logitech support site. As for Winamp, I have reinstalled it multiple times to no avail. I don't believe the speakers are calling out the application, but rather holding on to it. It is only while I listen to music and sometimes watching a video does the audio suddenly shut off. It then holds the Winamp, and seems to be only Winamp that it holds. I use zplayer for my video player, and when the audio freezes for the video I just turn off the speakers, close zplayer, unplug the usb, reinsert it immediately, and it works again. However this interrupts my video and I would have to reload it once again. But as for Winamp once I close it, the older instance seems to be still running, and when if I just unplug the usb and reinsert it, Winamp still won't work when i reopen it as long as the older instance seems to be running. I have a feeling it is the LCD manager still trying to access the media information from the previous running instance. But I think it would not matter whether or not Winamp is held by LCD Manager as long as the audio never stopped without me actually stopping it. About that fix for 2 or more usbs plugged in at once, I am not sure which fix it is. If possible could you possibly point me to it, or tell me its fix number so I could search for it with more ease. I did find a Vista usb patch, but it seemed to address some other issues. If that is the one that you are talking about then I will go on with downloading and trying it, but I just want to be sure because I do not like installing unnecessary fixes.

I have exactly the same problem but with Z Cinema speakers, is there any solution for this? i think it should be a hardware problem not related to windows, maybe certain signal not recongized by the speaker firmware i think Logitech should pay more attention to this problem since its so common and relase a fix NOW!

I have maybe a workaround for this problem, i have just pluged the speakers to another AC connector (not the one on the no break), i have placed the subwoofer turned around so the heat sink is not close to the right speaker (in my config) and i have not turned the volume to full power, i dont know if any or all of this changes have fixed the problem but it's about one hour playing music and the sound is working and before this the sound droped after 15 minutes max hope this helps others

Ok that was a solution until i played a game and no sound again, so this is the ultimate solution:
- buy a 3.5 mm plug cable both sides male
- one side goes to your sound card output (so better buy a good sound card if you dont have)
- the other side goes to the aux input of the speakers, woila you dont have srs effects however you have clean and constant sound forever!!
- and if you want to have srs effects buy SRS Sandbox for $40, i should recommend it since it will boost your speakers power in ways you cant with usb output and you have better control of surround and bass
So in conclussion dont use usb input since it's useless for the most users i hope someday Microsoft or Logitech finds a solution for this problems in the mean time use my solution and you wont miss usb ever, thank god for analogic I/O
