Problem with X-240 Speakers(No Sound on Comp, Just Ipod)

I just bought my x-240 speakers, set it up according to the manuel. Everything is in the right sport, now when I go to itunes or on the web there is no sound. So I tried plugged my Ipod in and it worked fine, the sub, speakers. Could there be a setting on my comp? My old speakers had an usb plug to it, I have an Emachines computer. Please help, Thank you

Check the drivers for your sound card and make sure it is the default audio output device.
