The pot is dirty, hence the bad sound. I opened up the controller module and literally blew into the pot (unsealed, btw - very poor and very cheap design), pretty well fixed the problem, but a quick shot of contact cleaner would be better. But who has a can of contact cleaner kicking around??? Another (not very good) solution is to quickly rotate the volume knob from full on to full off several times. This may move the offending dust particles out of the contact path, fixing the balance problem, at least temporarily.
I was shocked at the Logitech rep saying this wasn't a problem! He needs to be fired for incompetence!

BowWow you are a genius (Had the same problem as the original poster and so many other users) I did exactly as you said ''quickly rotate the volume knob from full on to full off several times'' and voila my speakers were balanced .............. Sound problem fixed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You saved me 50Kr (having to go back to the store)
