So I decided to stop using the logitech web commander thinking that the Blue Iris software would make things work better. I have the software running on 2 machines in my home. One thing I am noticing is that I am getting a lot of signal loss errors or the image freezing for 30 seconds and then resetting. It was never this bad with the Logitech software. And I figured it would cut ou tthe copying of the video from the cameras to the computer which may have some performance issue. Well, it seems like I am no better off. I am just wondering if anyone who is using the blue iris on 2 machines is having this issue. Its very simply, I just want to be able to monitor the cameras from 2 separate locations. Nothing fancy. My whole network is setup as POE with cat5e cable runs less than 100FT. So I have no idea how to fix this or if anyone else has had such an issue?

czemel, I run Blue Iris on one computer and monitor the cameras on several others. Just setup the webserver, then you can monitor them with your web browser.

Thanks for the suggestion. Main issue with that is there is no volume on the webserver. Just realized there is volume when viewing the web server. Well thats great! Curious though, ss there an issue running Blue Iris on 2 machines accessing the same cameras? I have 5 cameras in my setup. While I seemed to have some issue running web commander and Blue Iris at the same time, there seems to be a lot of timeouts running Blue Iris on 2 machines.

Off the top of my head, running Blue Iris on two machines would double your network bandwidth. That'd be ten live streams (two from each of your five cameras) over the powerline network, which is probably the issue.
I think you could do ten streams over PoE, but on powerline it's probably a stretch.

Actually I am only running POE. Is there a hardware limitation with each camera that would limit multiple simultaneous access connections?
On a separate point, for those Blue Iris users, is anyone noticing the audio and video out of sync. I am seeing a 3 second delay between audio and video for both live and recorded. I never got this when using the Logitech commander. WOndering if there is a setting that would fix this.

I am just replying as a user here, but I have not seen this issue myself.
Have you tried resetting your PoE network?
Also have you tried turning off one of the computers and seeing if this still happens?
IP cameras send out one stream from themselves. You can connect with multiple things, but it starts to get slow like a website. The more users the slower it gets.

I have tried resetting the POE network, but that does not do anything. If I turn off one of the machines, the issue does not occur.

I have been trying Blue Iris and it has a number of nice features. However, I have discontinued Blue Iris due to a problem with the motion detection feature. When using it at night, the system drastically reduces the range at which motion can be detected. Requests for assistance for solving this problem have gone unanswered. Not only did they not reply, they deleted my post describing the problem! This is not the way to create confidence in a product.
Blue Iris ver 2.55.03.

So I have been playing around with Blue Iris for most of the day today and found some things I like and things I dont.
Ok, like and dont like at the same time. I like you can zoom in or out with the mouse wheel on the video easily. Don't like, its a software zoom and gets pixelated very easily.
Have not found a way to actually have the camera zoom in. Looks like you can only do that in alert commander.
I love alert commanders storage of videos soooo much better. I like that you get a folder for the month and then individual days for storage. Makes it sooo much easier to go look for things on a particular day.
I have the sensitivity set to full in blue iris and it doesn't have half the range that commander has and commander is only set to 60% right now. I am definately getting less videos due to flying creatures in blue iris.
Now, on to recording. Software recording is not nearly as good coming from blue iris. It gets random artifacts in the video which I have never had happen with the recordings from the logitech camera itself. As for audio recording in blue iris, the audio seems to lag behind the video by a good 1-2 seconds. I have never had that happen in commander.
Audio in general in blue iris is subpar to commander. Your only choices for audio in blue iris is either ON or OFF. There is no volume control for live.
I absolutely LOVE the ability to have date and timestamp displayed on the camera! The ability to add your own text is a very nice touch! It still baffles me that logitech does not have that incorporated in their display.
Video in general seems smoother and looks sharper in commander than in blue iris.
Scheduling, very nice in blue iris! I like it, cant compare to commander since it doesn't have this feature. Sending alerts has much better feature as well. You can use a modem and have it play a voice recording. You can use windows messenger to IM someone with an alert, And while its not really useful for me, the ability to run scripts is killer for some folks!
Current version of Blue Iris is 2.57.02
Come on logitech! There are some good reasons to use commander but there are a lot more reasons to use blue iris. We need more of these options in our commander!

For night vision motion detection going down, this is because night vision cannot see as far as day vision.
For night vision our cameras can olny detect motion as far as the IR lamps go. Usually this goes from about 60' during the day to about 30'-40' at night.
I would test the motion in the Commander compared to Blue Iris and see if that changes anything.
If you have comments about anything with our product of software you can fill out a survey at www.logitech.com/ithink
This is our product survey that goes to head office then sent to the proper departments.
If you have a specific feature you can add it to the feature enhancement thread.
