For night vision motion detection going down, this is because night vision cannot see as far as day vision.
For night vision our cameras can olny detect motion as far as the IR lamps go. Usually this goes from about 60' during the day to about 30'-40' at night.
I would test the motion in the Commander compared to Blue Iris and see if that changes anything.
The point that was being made with my post is that Blue Iris does not work as well as the Commander software for night vision. I ran both softwares concurrently and Blue Iris failed to record most movement at night (except for bugs). Commander recorded all movement at night (including bugs!). In fact, the only time Blue Iris would record at night (other than bugs) was if a light was turned on outside.

Ah. I just wanted to verify as this is not supported by us.
It maybe best to post in the Blue Iris forums and see if maybe you can find a quicker answer through there. Maybe some adjustment that needs to be made in the contrast or detection settings.

Hi, thanks for the recommendations. I have bought Blue Iris, and so far it looks great. However, I have 3 700i cameras, and I can't seem to connect smoothly to them, remotely. My setup is this. 3 cameras connected to an ATT-provided 2Wire 2701HG-B Gateway modem/router. The cameras work OK if my laptop is in the same LAN. However over the internet, I can't view them. Both internet connections are fast enough, and through the Logitech alert website they work. I just can't connect to them with Blue Iris, directly.
I have tried the port forwarding options outlined before in this thread. One thing is not clear though. Should I set forwarding on the ATT router where the cameras are connected, or the router my laptop is connected to, or both? Also, how can I assign ports for each camera? I have found that playing with port forwarding settings on the ATT router (where the cameras connect) can get me a connection, but it's mostly frozen (mostly gray screen), and keeps disconnecting and reconnecting. Connection is done barely, but data is not flowing at all.

Hi
I have 23 logitech 750e cameras runnimng with Blue Iris.
Ive noticed that if I view the cameras on the logitech software that it streams the picture more fluid than if I view them with Blue iris?
What settings should I apply for a more fluid picture with Blue Iris?
Also is there any other software that will alow me to view more then 1 camera at a time when looking at recorded cmaeras?

You guys need to go to the Blue Iris forum and all your questions and problems will be answered.
I switched to BI a couple months back due to outages here and can say its really great as long as you have a decent computer to run it.
Also an update was just released in the last couple days tweaking motion sensing and some other things so make sure to get the latest update if you haven't alrready.

You can have multiple recording profiles with BI and have them start and stop at the times you want so maybe you need a second night profile with different settings. I run with 2 profiles, one from 6am to 6pm and another 6pm to 6am with different contrast and sensitivity settings for nighttime.
Nightvision uses a different kind of luminance so I would think playing with the contrast, trying the luminance only option, more sensitivity or a combinaton of these would fix it.

BI uses a lot of resources due to all the features so it doesnt run as smooth as CC sometimes. I have a couple second lag with my older Pentium D setup and BI but on a quad core machine there is no lag. You can turn off move clips to recycle bin, turn down or off the number of frames BI caches and things like that if you need.
To adjust remote viewing quality:
Click the screwdriver/wrench icon at the top left side of the main screen. Then click the webserver tab, the click activeX encoder options near the bottom.
See the average bitrate setting? Setting this lower makes the pitcure more fluent and making it higher makes the picture clearer and better. I have mine set at either 300 or 500. 300 streams better but 500 looks better.

Its a Cam It user forum and not an offical BI one so this really has nothing to do with the company. No one from BI is on the forum or responds to questions there. I have received nothing but quick answers from the other users when I asked things.
If you want an offical answer you need to email support@blueirissoftware.com like it says to do on their website. http://blueirissoftware.com/11.html

The Blue Iris website directs an individual to the Cam It user forum. Whether or not it is an "official" Blue Iris website is really irrelevant. I am just passing on my experience in this situation,

This is the correct forum for this post. This thread is talking about Blue Iris as an alternative to Commander. This post was to relate my experience with Blue Iris so anyone wanting to use Blue Iris would be aware of some of the challenges with Blue Iris I have faced.
