I installed a Logitech Alert system in March/April 2011. I am very happy with the system. It has been functioning extremely well. I am operating 2 indoor cameras (700i) and 2 outdoor cameras (700e). When I purchased the indoor cameras no nightvision cameras were available for indoor use. Now Logitech in marketing a indoor camera with nightvision. I would like to replace my 700i cameras with indoor nightvision cameras. Is it possible to exchange my cameras for nightvision cameras? If possible, I would certainly be willing to pay the difference in price.
Solved! Go to Solution.

Your best bet is to sell your old one then buy the new one.
It's unlikely any retailer would do a swap. Otherwise, I bought my car in 2011 and a new model is out in 2012, I'd like to do a swap and would be willing to pay the difference... ![]()

I believe your comparison with a car purchase lacks pertinance. You don't seem to understand the underlying issues involved.
The logitech alert indoor camera (700i) was a deficient product by not having night vision capability. For security purposes it was a flawed product. It was a major drawback compared with other models on the market. This was noted by many potential customers and was viewed as game killer for buying the system. Logitech became quickly aware of the problem and changed the design. The new 700n camera is now being offered for a lower price than I paid last year for the the 700i.
I, as an early customer, am stuck with the flawed design. The car industry at least offers recalls and is willing to correct flawed designs. What is Logitech willing to do?

Flawed design? LMAO!! You KNOW it doens't have night vision when you bought it.
Hack, my Ipod 3 doesn't have a camera like the Ipod 4 that came after. And I "need" a camera therefore the Ipod 3 is a flawed design?
You make no sense at all. Stop buying anything.

Despite some of the smart-alec remarks the responses are correct......
You knew what you were purchasing and if you didin't it's only your own fault.
You can't expect the manufacturer to do what you ask and continue to stay in business. Updates and new models come out all the time.
They still offer the indoor camera w/o night vision (700i) along with the NV models (700n), so what is flawed?
It works as advertised doesn't it?
Sorry but you will need to fork the $$

No, I understand what you're saying. However, not having a feature doesn't necessitate it being a flawed design.
Your argument can be applied to just about everything. Prior to 2010 my car didn't have electronic damping control... does that make the older ones "flawed"? Imagine how people felt when buying a 2009 and the 2010 has the feature and it can't be added as a dealer add-on. They also completely revamped the onboard nav and control systems to a new one in 2010 and it was vastly superior to the older stuff.
That's electronics. The 700i had no night vision, if you wanted it you could install a 700e inside your house instead. As for price, it's not unusual for electronics to be replaced with stuff that is newer, better, *and* cheaper.
Welcome to being an early adoptor. That's the price of being first - higher cost and potentially less features.
To use your twist on my example: the car industry only does a recall if there is a safety issue that could result in them getting sued for lots of money - not because an older car is missing features provided by a newer car.
I'm all for consumer rights, but Logitech isn't obliged to do anything here because they didn't do anything wrong by coming out with a new product that is better and cheaper than an older one.
