Camera keeps dropping

ok, this is a fun one. My camera has went up and down a good dozen or so times in the last 24 hours. Every time it drops, AVG'a firewall goes nuts telling me that its having connection issues. At the same time, my internet on the computer that commander is on will briefly blip and not be accessable. I have shut down commander and restarted it, I have unplugged the main homeplug and reset it, I have unplugged the homeplug going to the camera and reset it, I have rebooted the camera, I have formatted the camera and yet it continues to randomly cause blips on my computer, freaking out the avg firewall and stopping internet connection even though nothing is shown as a break in the internet. I have even reset my modem/router. So what could be causing this problem?

BTW, the momentary loss of internet connection is very brief, 5-10 seconds at most.

Re: Camera keeps dropping

Is this a new camera or an old camera acting up?  If it's new I would suspect the homeplug bridge may be acting up.  If it's old and has been working, how's your homeplug performance level?

[ Edited ]

I have had this camera since around august of last year. Homeplug performance is good. It is running at 170. All tests showed no problems at all, other than it saying current version failed even though it is the current version. it has done that ever since I participated in an earlier beta, even after removing the software and reinstalling. Currently the last time it went out was probably around 4 or 5am this morning and hasn't dropped since but again, it dropped a good couple dozen times in that 24 hour period and would only be out for maybe 10 seconds and come back in but whatever it was doing it was killing the network on this pc to cause the avg firewall to freakout like that. Even with the firewall disabled it still dropped and would last about the same amount of time.

Edit note: camera just dropped again and was out for about 15 seconds at 11:55am

Re: Camera keeps dropping

@DoomsDay00, just curious...is there a lot of motion activity when it drops...or completely unrelated to that ?  I suppose if you set the motion sensitivity to zero and it still drops on occasion, that would eliminate that aspect for sure <g>

Re: Camera keeps dropping

No there wasn't a lot of motion. There is some right now with the wind, but yesterday when it was dropping a lot, it was pretty still out there.

Re: Camera keeps dropping

I'd set it to zero...just to completely eliminate that activity possibility.  ...sounds like it happens in the dark as well as daylight too, no ?

Re: Camera keeps dropping

Yes it happened in the dark. I also have my IR turned off and it was dark all night. No recordings till this morning.

Re: Camera keeps dropping

Well, that should eliminate activity <g>

Looking back, is this a similar issue to what you had back in January ?  ( I read your comments in that old thread about "killing the internet connection" ).  Were you ever able to try a different HomePlug adapter or bridge ?

Re: Camera keeps dropping

No, its not the same thing, but I did get a new one but that didn't help my vpn connection on my laptop. Did seem to fix the other issues though. I have had this particular issue pop up once before and lasted for a day then didn't have it happen anymore till now. this was several months ago, before I got the new homeplug adapter.

Re: Camera keeps dropping

OK.  I assume going PoE is not feasible for you...would eliminate the HomePlug variables.
