Re: Camera keeps dropping

Hey There,

Does the camera drop certain time of the day or does it happen in random intervals? If it is happening during a given duration, check that particular circuitry for devices/appliances that comes turn on/turn off.

If it happens in random, lets take a look and see if the issue is with the powerline or your internet. I know that you have an Outdoor Camera and its a little hassle to mount and dismount them, but do take it down.

 Try the following :

1, Bring the Camera to the same room as the commander is

2, Bypass the router/modem and go direct to your pc (unplug the ethernet from the router and plug it directly into your computer's ethernet port

3, Reset the Camera using a Paper Clip

4, Restart the computer in which the commander is installed

5, Camera should come online if everything is good. If not, then Search and find the camera on the Commander(disable AVG if the need arises by turning off the resident shield)

See if this helps you address the drop and monitor the camera for drops.

Basically, we bypassed any circuit related issue by moving it closer to the computer and we bypassed the router/modem to see if it plays any part.

Let us know what happens when you attempted to perform the above operations.

Re: Camera keeps dropping

It is completey random. However, I don't think its an issue with commander now. I think something on my machine has corrupted some communication layer or the networking protocol because I found a few other programs that are also also having different issues but it appears all the issues are related to communication. I have no idea how to proceed from here though. I have alreeady tried updating network drivers, removing client for microsoft networks and reloading it, reseting tcp/ip, reloaded .net4.0 and a few other patches and nothing seems to have helped the other issues. Short of having to completely reload this rig which would be an undertaking in itself, I am unsure how to proceed now, but at least I think commander is not at falt at all.

Re: Camera keeps dropping

Hello DoomsDay00,

Sorry to hear that. When did the problem start? Can you back track as to what might you have done recently for this behaviour to occur?

I hear you when you say reloading is an undertaking on its own. Lets try something a little different here then. How about we perform a system restore.

Restore your system to a date prior to you seeing these problems.

Note : If you have created, modified any documents, I would request that you save them to a usb drive or export it somwhere else to the cloud or to your own e-mail prior to restoring the system.

If restore fixes the issue, that would be great and would save you time from having to re-load everything.

Re: Camera keeps dropping

No system restores available from before that day sadly. I think I had turned off, by mistake, one of the services that was required for restore points. The machine that I have my camrea running to is also a gaming rig. One of the games I played had a patch and then after that, their own launcher wont even authenticate anymore. Along with their own game, I have 2 more games that it broke, 2 applications that it broke and then the problem with commander going up and down. Oddly enough, commander seems to be working fine now. I haven't had it going up and down for many hours now, but still the other games/apps are broken. The problem has something to do with communication that is for sure. all of the apps have the same similar issue. One app has its own patcher service that is installed, It can see that patcher service but beyond that, it can never validate. One of the games requires another app to be running and it is running because it is the one that launches the game, but when you get into the game, it says the app isn't running and the game will shut down.

I have another app sabnzbd that grabs nzb files for me, as this computer is also a semi tv pvr system to, so it will go out and grab tv shows for me that I missed. However, that app will open, takes it like 1 minute to open when it used to be 5 seconds, and it loads the web page but it can't seem to even connect to its own database and see what all it actually has downloaded. So for the life of me, I don't know what all these apps/games have in common. I put in a support ticket with the game that I think caused all this, but there is no telling if they will respond or if they can even fix it. There is something that all these apps share but I just can't figure out what it is.

Re: Camera keeps dropping

Hello DoomsDay00,

Sorry to hear that. Yeah, system restore is a life saver lot of the times. You can set it up to do it automatically or just go in there manually every 2 - 3 weeks and create a restore point. If and when you system does crash you have something to go back to rather than doing a overhaul.

I have done system overhauls after the end of a school term for the new session and it is a darn big pain. Usually create an un-attended install disk and then burn it, plug them all in and say "I am booking a ticket off the nearest Coffee shop" and then fly back 1+ hr later to finish off. That's the easy part and then comes all the software installations which will make your grandmother turn 20 by the time you are done with it.

Two things to do on a regular basis would be to perform a backup and create a restore point.

Anyways, I hope the game support personnel would be able to shed some light and aid you further and save you a overhaul. Keeping fingers crossed.

Re: Camera keeps dropping

Yeah it just sucked all around. System was to the point that several of my things didnt work, I couldn't get my system image to restore, couldn't find my original win7 cd.. So had to go out and plop down another 200 bucks for a new copy of windows. Spent a day and a half getting everything back on. then I figured out what was wrong with my image. Stupid western digital mybooklive. Because I had connected it that share at some point in time, and then when I tried to connect to it from the repair cd, it would connect but it wouldn't allow the restore to see the files. So NOW I know, if I have to restore, Make sure to shut the nas down and restart it prior to trying to connect to it with a repair disk lol. This was a costly problem, that is for sure, but at least everything is working again.

Re: Camera keeps dropping

I am noticing a similar problem - I get recorded footage and email alerts for 2-3 days and then have intermittent down times of 10-12 hours... then it comes back without my touching anything. As an example, the camera was active up to 6:30pm last night (4/22) and then it went silent until 2:00pm today (4/23).
