I dont want to return this product but i have some issues

First off i have to say i love the " overall " quality of the 700E i can see all the detail in my yard and driveway beautifully and i have a big yard. The features in the program Commander are great. But  what good is a security camera if  you cant see the faces of  intruders? the night vision is also great overall BUT again intruders faces are completely white As far as powerline strength i was going to go buy a poe switch but if you run an extension cord thats plugged  in an outlet close to your network adapter and plug the camera into it  you will get great results, i got 198 by doing that. I bought the C910 webcam just for the hell of it it was on sale for 49.00 regular price over 100.00  Let me tell you this cam is awesome True HD  now why cant they combine this cam with Alert system  they could get triple the price i know i would pay for that quality. I have read the more light during the day the better the camera handles movement so far i would have to agree with that. Lastly i guess while building these cameras they concentrated on getting good quality with least amount  of light so with that i guess it lacks clarity of movement... Would or can this ever be corrected by a firmware update ?  Or is it just in the camera itself and you like it for what it is or you dont ?  oh btw i also have the 700i and again overall quality great movement or face identifacation blah

Re: I don't want to return this product but i have some issues

Hello pepsi123,

In regards to the issue you are having with details on faces... Does this occur during both during night *and* day? 720p is a decent quality image but you will get the most details within ~50 feet. As for the night vision, the infrared is extremely sensitive to light. Try eliminating any reflective surface and/or light sources from the cameras view. Also, have you tried adjusting the camera's brightness in Alert Commander's settings?

I believe the developer's reasoning for not going to full 1080p is because of the load on the PC (as well as the server's for streaming). Using one C910 in 1080p tends to be able to be handled by many modern CPUs and video cards. However, when you take into consideration that many people may use 2 - 6 cameras it really becomes a balance between having a high quality for each camera, but being in a range that most PCs would be able to handle all the cameras.

[ Edited ]

update... i just had visitors and they wanted to see the cameras... i was Amazed! viewing the playback of their entrance  Today is an overcast cloudy day  their was hardly any blurring of faces and hardly any jittering movement!!  We both watched  the playback  saying how good it was!  So i am assuming i am having a " light " issue or reflective surface issue maybe... so i will relocate the Camera and try again. The only thing i can think of is i am getting reflective light from the white aluminum trim that surrounds the front door ( house is vynil siding so you know the standard door and window trim ) also i have   sidelight windows on each side of the doort that increases the amount of white trim. another thing i noticed as they were approaching when  we opened the front door the recording got a bit darker, like we eliminated the reflective surface ( the door )  but the door is burgandy, i would guess still a bit reflective but not as much if it was white

Edit...   I have reinstalled the camera away from the house  I had it mounted under the door frame for somewhat protection from the elements like they suggest.. so far so good BUT it is still cloudy i will have to see what happens after the sun comes out, also what happens with the night vision tonight..  considering the reflective images were behind the camera i didnt realize it would effect the camera.. like i said  we will see what happens now, but im liking it so far and have faith!

On another note i am still having the same issue with the 700i guess ill have to try relocating that one in a few places This sint going to be as easy as just  mounting it farther off the house like the 700e

EDIT #2  i now know why  well not exactly WHY but the reason i had so much blurryness was my video frame rate was 4 or 5 !!!  the nice videos i have seen today were 15 fps !!!    I found this in property details on the video  now to find out the highest fps on these cams and how to obtain the highest! im guessing it is  light  but im not sure ?

EDIT 3  now im thinkiing it is a bandwith issue  on the 700i i get 5 mpbs on the 700e  i get 15mpbs  i unplugged the 700E to try to gain bandwith on the 700i but it dont work i still get the same 5mpbs

i also called into support , they have NO answers other then bring it back, i ask to speak to the supervisor that he was talking to and  he didnt want to talk to me , holy crap what kind of support supervisor is that ? I simply asked the guy what  things pertain to the FPS  i want to know why my videos that suck at 5 fps suck and what i can do to get the cam up to the 15 fps i had when the videos are good... he said bring the cam back its probably defective... i mean come on something has to happen for the cam to drop its frame rate like lack of light, bandwith something!

Hiya pepsi123...

Yeah there can be a few culprits in regards to the bandwidth and FPS. One is the video card itself - please ensure that your video drivers are completely up to date. Also, check powerline performance along with bandwidth. As these cameras are running through your existing electrical outlets, any appliances that are in the same system can degrade the signal. Are there certain times of day in particular you notice the issue?

Monitor the powerline performance and bandwidth throughout the day and see if you notice fluctuations in the rating.

If it does turn out that the performance is low, the best thing to do is plug the power adapter in another outlet and use a longer cat-5 cable to get to the camera (you should be able to get up to 300 feet of cable with no issues). The largest amount of signal degradation is seen in the length of electrical between the camera's power adapter and the network adapter.

Re: I don't want to return this product but i have some issues

if you are to use POE  does that eliminate the powerline/bandwith concern by NOT using home electrical?  or does that only help the powerline strength?

Re: I don't want to return this product but i have some issues

If you go PoE, there is no powerline to deal with anymore...and bandwidth should be near max.

Logitech only does warranty repairs and does not fix them out of warranty
