Logitech is pleased to announce the availability of the Logitech Alert™ Indoor B700i and Outdoor B700e PoE video security system, a system that runs on your advanced home network using Power over Ethernet (PoE). What exactly is Power over Ethernet (PoE)? Have you ever wanted to mount a Logitech Alert camera where an outlet wasn’t readily available, or where electricity isn’t always reliable? If so, Power over Ethernet is the right solution for you. Power over Ethernet is an alternative connection method to Homeplug or Powerline networking. You can connect your security camera directly to a PoE-enabled router or switch, using an Ethernet cable. The connection provides both data AND power on one single cable and eliminates the need to plug the camera into a power outlet. How do I know if I have a compatible router or switch? Logitech Alert cameras will work with PoE 48V IEEE 802.3af-2003 and PoE+ 48V IEEE 802.3at-2009 high power standards. Not every router and switch supports Power over Ethernet so be sure to check the specifications of the brand and model that you own. ![]() Can I still connect my cameras using Power over Ethernet even if I don’t have a compatible router? Yes- however, you will need to use a PoE power injector or a midspan device. These adapters plug into a power outlet and sit in line between your camera and your non-PoE router or switch. The power injector or a midspan device then injects the 48V onto the Ethernet cable allowing the camera to simultaneously transmit video and be powered all on one cable. ![]() Is my Logitech Alert 750i/700i/750e/700ecamera(s) PoE compatible? Yes, all Logitech Alert cameras are PoE compatible. Can I run some Logitech Alert cameras using Homeplug and some using PoE? Yes, as long as they are connected to the same router or switch you can mix and match connection methods. How are the B700i/B700e cameras different than my Logitech Alert 750i/700i, 750e/700e? The Logitech Alert B700i and B700e are identical to their Homeplug cousin’s; the Logitech Alert 750i/700i and 750e/700e, however, they don’t ship with the Homeplug adapters and connect to your home network using Power over Ethernet. How much and where can I buy the Logitech Alert B700i and B700e? The Logitech Alert B700e is available for $239.99 and the Logitech Alert B700i is available for $189.99. Good day,
I have Alert 750i (indoor) system, and I was thinking of buying an n injector to supply power to the camera directly without the need to use the power adaptors that were supplied with the camera.
I found on injector on the web that I wanted to confirm if it will be compatible with my device.
Could you kindly let me know if this is ok!?
Many thanks,

The injector looks fine but don't know the brand. Might want to go with something known if plugging it into an item more than $100.00.
Pretty much any one of these on the low end would work:

or you might try this:

Would POE connected cameras have a stronger signal than Homeplug if the Homeplug connection is on the weak side because of interference or distance. If so, would this have a noticable inprovement on online viewed video?

PoE should definately provide a stronger signal...as it bypasses all the HomePlug layers/variability. PoE ( actually Ethernet ) has a distance limitation too, but 100 meters is pretty far. As for the online viewing ( I assume you mean web/mobile here ), it would improve if HomePlug was struggling before...but the uplink capacity of your ISP connection is the big factor for online viewing ( would be the weak link of the chain if using PoE ).

I recently have had a lot of issues with my cameras going offline at my vacation home (2 hours away). I decided to download the new software and camera firmware as well as go POE. It has worked like a charm. The injector I purchased is listed on Amazon.com (Alfa V IEEE802.3af PoE Injector) for less than 25.00 each. I now have one installed at both my houses (different type of routers) and they both work great. Hope this helps anyone who is suffering the same type of issues...
Brian
