Ok! Thanks for checking into the cables.
The info below is for others like me who wanted to use Blue Iris.
I got BlueIris up and running and it's a lot more flexible and intuitive software than the commander. It's true IP camera DVR and I hope Commander will catch up one day.
For BlueIris users, the cameras should be setup as static IP and excludes these IP address from the DHCP IP pool. If the camera are left with DHCP assigned IP, you'll most likely lose your camera when the camera is power cycled or the router is power cycled and DHCP assigned IP has changed to a different one.
Anyone knows how to assign the static IP address to your camera? Is there any command you can send to the camera to use the static IP address?
I know I can setup static IP from the router directly with the camera MAC addresses. But is there any other way to setup at the camera?
Also, for anyone who had the password setup in the Commander security field, you need to use the same password in the Blue Iris.
The user name is "Admin" just in case you are wondering. I know you didn't setup any username in the Commander Security question but it seems Admin works just fine. Any other username didn't seem to work. So, make sure you have the username "Admin" and the same password you setup with your commander.
Here is another useful thread I found after reading in the Blue Iris thread.

Hello Jameskm,
I have made arrangements to gather some stock information as to the availability of the 50 foot Cable that you were seeking. We checked our database here and we are unable to gather any information as to when it would be re-stocked.
As soon as I find anything at all, I will fill you in. Hoping for a better reply but I couldn't do it.
As far as the Blue Iris is concerned, Like I had mentioned previoulsy, heard a lot of good things and never had the opportunity to play around with that since I am busy playing around with Alert Commander.
Alert Camera system is fairly new so once they refine the system, I am sure the Engineers would come up with more features and enhancements to make it even better than Blue Iris.

Hello jameskm,
I have not heard anything back yet, I am still working on your case and will update you with any information I get when I do receive it.
I know that this would be a frustrating situation so, may I ask you whether you had tried checking the 3rd Party Websites for the 50 foot Cable.
I know that you can also make your own Ethernet Cable as well. You can purchase the Cable and then Purchase the Plastic Clips and then connect them together. This is just an alternative solution if you want to seek it.

You must use DHCP to assign the IP address to the camera. In order to assign it the same known IP address every time the camera boots up, the DHCP server component of your router must be capable of DHCP reservations. Obtain the MAC address from the camera and enter the MAC address and the desired IP address into the DHCP reservation table.
This is different from DHCP exclusions, which prevents an IP address from a DHCP scope from being assigned to clients.

Kiruban and / or Other Users,
I have 3 master systems at 3 different homes and love the product.
Question:
I recently bought my 4th master system to add to an exisiting location. I am not having any luck, (I do not wish to use blue iris.) Also, by way of background, I read this particular forum and feel that I followed instructions, but still failed.
--I am relying on Powerlink.
--I installed system #1 and all 6 cameras are up and running.
--I then unplugged that system.
--I plugged in the new Master / Commander in using a second computer and was able to find/discover all cameras.
--I gave that location a unique name. The new name appeared in the dropdown menu on the system (checked via iPad app and saw it).
--But once I plugged both Master / Commanders back in, along with all 12 cameras, I was not able to see ANY of the cameras on either system.
I unplugged the new / 2nd system and all of the original cameras and the original system was back up and running okay.
But I want all 12 ...
Let me know what I might be missing.
Thanks!
-Rick

I'm not the expert here...haven't tried this myself ( yet ), but I think you may have to set a local network password on one set of cameras ( 6 cameras, network adapter, and the Alert Commander PC for them ) to differentiate them from the other set. You "may" need to do that for the other set too ( obviously a different password )...to ensure they are isolated from each other. Anyway, one of the Logitech folks may have better info...

I was finally able to install two Commanders at the same location. 12 cameras total. Make sure to assign a unique pw to each system. All works flawlessly. I have these systems at 3 different residences. Very satisfied.
KIRUBAN on these msg boards was very helpful.

I have two outdoor master systems; call them Old & New. The Old system I have 5 cameras on it & the New system has 6 cameras. I have a large courtyard house with multiple breaker panels. My plan of attack - I haven't given up yet - was to run dedicated circuits for each system & place each system on a different phase of my electrical system. So, one breaker on phase 1 does the Old system (including the network adapter) and one breaker on phase 2 does the New system (including it's network adapter). I setup Old system (and did this with logitech assistance at a later date - same way I did it, so it's not me) while New system is in a totally OFF state (PC is off, network adapter off & unplugged from DHCP Router, cameras are off). Old system comes alive, all 5 cameras recognized, apply security key & take Old system offline so as to setup New system. Setup New system - viola everything goes smoothly - all 6 cameras come ready and recognized...no problem right? WRONG ![]()
The true test is now having BOTH system ON at the same time - the moment I switch back ON the Old system, the entire network, I mean the entire Network (all devices, not even a ping to the outside world works) freezes! So, I'm thinking it might be the Old system - so I shut off the New system to test - everything comes back & works just fine instantly - weird. So I go about this a while, and it does not matter which system is on, just that when BOTH are on the network freezes.
My internal network, ALL devices are gigabit - ALL devices including PC's (router, ap's, switches etc...) so even while just on the Lan, the network freezes when both network adapters are plugged in.
Logitech Cust. Service had no answer other than it is overloading my network - really??? c'mon only 11 cameras, maybe if I had 254 ![]()
One item of curious discovery during my other tests was the fact data from the cameras apparently travels over the neutral of the breaker panel so the phase 1 or 2 doesn't really matter - Kiruban your thoughts on that?

You didn't mention anything about assigning different passwords to each Alert system...which is what should prevent any crosstalk/confusion between the two. You'd have to do that with one system when everything on the other one is unplugged...then do the same with the other one ( different password of course ). Then when you bring both up, hopefully you won't see that issue.
As for the neutral, it is a common line...but the signal has to go over the hot lines from each to get there. Just because you have separate circuits, doesn't mean they can't see each other...unless each circuit is on a different transformer from the power company. ...so some would call you lucky from the HomePlug perspective that the signal gets across...but unlucky for you when trying to use that without the different password/PC isolation for the two systems <g>

Sorry about that... Yes, I actually did assign a unique password to the new system as well...that's what has me baffled. I even went so far as to eliminate IPv6 - using only IPv4, reserved IP addresses for each camera on each system - still no luck.
Now I am in process of yet another "reset" - believe me that is no fun at all when a few of my cameras are 25' to 30' high!
One electric meter, multiple panels....my system all runs back to one panel though.
