I installed a sinfle Logitech Alert B700e camera at my nephews construction company yard and installed the Commander software on his secretary's desktop computer.

The camera is mounted within two feet of the desktop computer looking out an office window. I used a TrendNet PoE switch which I connected to an available port on the office wireless router. I then ran the cable from the #1 port on the switch to the camera. Everything is working fine and I am impressed with the Logitech product.

The secretary believes that, ever since I installed the camera, PoE switch, and the software on her computer, her computer is running much more slowly than it did before. I told her that I don't think there is any reason to suspect any connection with the installation and the speed of her computer. But, I added, anything is possible.

Can anyone from Logitech or anyone else opine on this?

I suspect it has more to do with her PC...if old or lower-end, the video may load it enough to notice.  I'd bring-up Task Manager and look at the load on the CPU(s).  If you minimize Alert Commander, that will eliminate the video load...and still copy the clips...see what Task Manager says then.

If the PC is running XP, then her complaint may be with starting other tasks...as there are old complaints from myself and others about taking over a minute to open a spreadsheet from Windows Explorer or even just clicking on a link in an email to open a web page.  This seems very specific to XP...Win7 does not see this.  If you close Alert Commander, you don't see those terrible delays under XP.

Thanks, Useless. You are far from useless.

She has never opened Commander since I installed the camera. The only time Commander is opened is when I visit to check up on how things are going. And, so far, so good. I have this camera inside a trailer office mounted on a wall next to a window.  It is looking out through the glass. The video is great during daytime. At night, though,  it is quite dark and there is a bright white light on that is visible in the video image. At first I thought the light was outside. Then I thought the light was on inside the office. But it turns out there are no lights inside or out. I'm thinking now that the light I am seeing at night is a light on the camera that is reflecting back off the glass window.

Yeah, if Alert Commander is not running on the PC, there should be no impact at all on the PC performance ( unless her disk is full or something like that ).

If you are using an outdoor camer looking through a window, the IR lights in the camera will just reflect back from the window and wipe-out any view you have...so it really needs to be mounted outside...or well away from anything close that reflects.
