Alert Security Systems

One of my cameras look out my front door from my front porch to my street.  I would like an e-mail alert when motion is detected near my front door, but I would still like the camera to record everything within view.  I havent been able to acheive this through the settings.  If i set the motion detection alert box, then it seems the camera will only record when something moves in that box.  If I set the detection box to full screen, with alerts, then I get an alert for every car that passes by.

Is what I want acheivable?

The motion detection triggers the recording and any alerts...so you currently can't really separate them the way you desire.
