Re: New Logitech Alert Indoor Cameras With Powerful Night Vision

Any idea when the units will ship??  Ordered one several days ago.  No one at the customer service email knows what the estimated  availability is.   Will you check and respond?

Re: New Logitech Alert Indoor Cameras With Powerful Night Vision

Hi SteveGB, thanks for your patronage and for buying our new camera.  It seems like units will start flowing in a few days from what I could gather.  All the systems that activate these things are turning on so the fulfillment process can begin.

Thanks F4U_Corsair.  Just checked my order status and it has moved from "order submitted" to "order being processed."   I am looking forward to getting the new camera.

I already have 750i.

1. I can add 700n to the current system, right?

2. Will I have to download new Alert software?  Is the current one for 750i going to be comparible with 700n?

3. What is the return policy?

Look forward to your response.  Thanks.

1) Yes, it works with 700/750 "i" and "e" models

2) If you are up to date with our SW releases you are fine and the current version will work.  Depending on when you get the camera the current version may even be newer than what's in the box.

3) It depends on the store you purchase from.  I believe the Logitech store offers 30days.

Can you use 700n for monitoring purpose without recording?  For example, I would like to place it in the living room and during the daytime when family members are around, I want to turn off the motion detection; otherwise, it will keep recording.  When everyone is in bed, I want to turn on the motion sensor to monitor and record the living room overnight.

Even if you set the motion sensitivity to lowest, it will still record when people are moving around in the living room.  What can I do to leave it on without recording?

Make sure that your cameras, etc are using the latest software.  My cameras stop recording when I set motion sensitivity all the way to the left to zero.

Re: New Logitech Alert Indoor Cameras With Powerful Night Vision

Like SteveGB mentions, setting sensitivity to 0 will completely disable recording on the cameras.

I hope the software clearly spells out that it has been turned OFF when you set the sensitivity bar all the way to left.  I haven't verified if the camera doesn't record if the bar set to far left, but I am sure it will work as mentioned above.  I, however, came up with a different idea.  Using the motion detection zone option, I just choose a small portion of the screen such as a small part of ceiling where there will be no movement at all during the daytime, and change it to entire screen at night when kids are in bed.  Then, it shouldn't get triggered by people in the room.

But, still it would have been nice to have an option to turn off recording (by an option to turn off motion detection, etc.) in the software itself, for a specified time period (it would be even better).

Unrelated to this matter, but related to the time period specified option, the Auto Level feature seems to darken the picture when it is bright outside, so I have to turn it off during the daytime and on at night (I have a door lamp which gives a little bit of illumination).  If the time period can be specified, which I don't think would be that difficult to implement at the software level, it would have been great, too.  (Already have on/off option available.  So, all you would need is to keep polling the time to set it on or off in the software.)
