Possibility to change when night vision turns on

I have now installed 6 cameras, two indoor and four outdoor and two of my outdoor cameras turn into night vision mode within almost the same 10 minute period. I understand that the camera calculates that the light level need to be in a certain level to activare the night vision.

It would be nice to have a new feature where you acctually could change settings with a "slider" in the "Camera settings" tab under the Brightness and Contrast sliders and name it "Night vision level" or something! When moving the "Night vision" slider to the right, tells the camera that it can be more lights in scene and still turn on the night vision.

E.g. when slider is on level 50 it could be like it is today (factory setting) but increased to let's say 60 would turn on the night vision mode much earlier. Hopefully you understand what I mean :smileytongue:

Re: Possibility to change when night vision turns on

I thought it would maybe be easier to understand what I mean on the above proposal for a new feature regarding the Night vision settings.

The main idea is to have the possibility to change the level when the night vision mode activates. Change the "Night vision acivation" slider to the right i.e. Lighter scene conditions = activate night vision mode earlier.

What do you think about this?

Yep point taken there are so many things that need to be added to the software but i suppose later they will bring out a PRo version that we have to pay for.

It would be nice to hear what Logitech has to say about the future. The cameras are not cheap as they are and many of the requested features in this forum is kind of what you expect from a platform in this "money level" so hopefully they understand that the Alert series with some added features sort of position the platform way ahead of many competitors.

Re: Possibility to change when night vision turns on

Pidda I agree with you fully.

I would love to be able to have a few more features that would be 'advanced' to the end user.

I think one of the things that Logitech might have gotten carried away with was E.O.U. (Ease of Use) to the client.

Home Plug tech is a great way to setup these camera's, but having features that are a little more advanced for the end user would be nice but It's like the engineers said "We don't want to confuse the user so we will make the decision for them."

It's understandable and for most people that would work, but options to be more advanced would be nice.

Yes I would love such a feature. As I'm typing this the sun has set and car headlights are activating the IR on and off.

Once its totally dark the problem goes away mostly.

Re: Possibility to change when night vision turns on

My night Vision keeps switching on and off during the night. So maybe also add the ability to schedule a constant "on" between specific times f.e. 11PM and 6AM

Re: Possibility to change when night vision turns on

I was previously thinking the scheduled on / off would work, but most likely so would the ability to adjust the sensitivity.  If they could implement either one - whichever one can be done easier / faster that is what I would vote for.  Having both features would be great but I'm fine if we could get just one of them.

Also having a 'premium' version of the software seems fine as well - for all of us with the system that works pretty well and just looking for more advanced features.  I agree that the 'Ease of Use' may have been the primary focus; and they executed that quite well but now it is time to focus on features / advanced features and users, especially if they want to have a 'business' version coming online; you're going to hear requests more frequently and louder from business owners.

Personally I think that way of thinking is a cop out. They could have a general user interface for those that don't want to be intimidated by boxes everywhere and then they could have the advanced user interface that the more skilled could take advantage of. And if you dont want the normal user messing around in there, just put a warning up that they could really screw stuff up if they play around in there. And of course having a simple option to reset back to standard could fix most anything they screwed around with lol.

Hello everyone,

If you have any features you would like to see or any feedback go to www.logitech.com/ithink and there you can fill out a product survey. This will then be forward to the correct department.
