Problem updating camera firmware

One of my three cameras won't complete the firmware update.  It's been this this way for a while but I've been too lazy about asking for help.

My two other cameras have updated seemlesssly.  The problem child gets all the way through the 'programming' phase, LOOKS like it's done but it doesn't complete.  The update camera screen still shows it at the old firmware (.176 I think).  I have attempted unplugging ang and re-plugging and formatting the card via the alert cammander admin screen.

All suggestions welcome.

Re: Problem updating camera firmware

You can try to bring the camera as close to the base powerline adapter as possible to make sure you have a really good network connection.  If the data isn't transfered over exactly a camera will fail the update and revert back to it's original firmware as a failsafe.

Re: Problem updating camera firmware

You didn't mention doing the paperclip reset ( when the camera is powered )...this usually clears-up odd problems.

Ahhh.  I have not tried that.  I'll give it a shot.

Re: Problem updating camera firmware

Like mentioned, bring the Camera closer and try to update the Camera. Also perform a reset on the Camera itself with the Paper Clip.

If you are still having Problem Updating the Camera, try these steps :

1, Unplug the Camera from the wall

2, Take out the SD card from the camera

3, Plug the camera back up

 4, Find the Camera

 5, Update the Camera

6, Unplug the camera and re-insert the camera

7, Plug the camera back up and re-find your Camera and you should be fine.

:smileywink:

Re: Problem updating camera firmware

Ok,

I tired every methods that were suggested in these posts but every attempts to update the firmware failed.  I am using VM on the Mac and probably this is related to a inherent problem of using VM to connect and regulate the camera as suggested by others in the forum.  I will try once more with Mcfee antivirual software off and see what.  Any other suggestions will be appreciated though.

Thanks.

Re: Problem updating camera firmware

I do have to apologize in that case that I can no longer assist. We cannot support Alert System on a Mac OSX.  I should however mention that One of our Specialist has indeed opened a forum and you can get assistanc from there. You can get to that posting from the below provided link :

@ bcdavis75

What is going on? Were you able to get the Camera Firmware updated or are you still having Problems? I would like to push forward with you and anyone else that might be running this system on a Windows Based OS. I will certainly assist other's as well but it would definitely be limited when it comes to Mac's /VM's and Boot Camps.

Re: Problem updating camera firmware

I've successfully updated using both VMWare Fusion and Parallels personally. You just have to make sure that your network adapter in your VM is set to Bridged, not the "NAT" options that is always configured by default. If it's NAT'ed, the camera and PC visibility change on the network.

BTW, I setup using a Mac. I occasionally run Commander on my Mac--not a great experience with the virtualized "video drivers", and I'm not really tied to my desk so it's not a big deal for me anyway. I primarily use my mobile and the web app. I did change out my microSD cards on my outdoor cameras to 16GB and have about 6-7 weeks of video based on my scene, so I have plenty of coverage.
