Trigger on motion possible?

Axis cameras are able to fire off a "trigger" when they detect motion.  Generally they will connect to a tcp port and push some output.  I use this now to trigger alerts inside XBMC and it also fires off an X10 bell, something I doubt the website would support.  So my question is there any mechanism these cameras have to let a system know they've detected motion.

Email alerting is too slow and ineffective for this purpose.

Re: Trigger on motion possible?

as far as I can tell email is the only option for alerts. you can have it send a mobile text as well I guess but is also using email for the transport. There are desktop alerts which are not email based but that is within the Commander software which you don't seem to want to use or it is too limited for what you are doing.

However, for me, the email system is quite fast. I have txt alerts going to my mobile phone and they seem pretty responsive to me. What are you using it for that you need it to be more immediate than a desktop or mobile alert? Just curious.

Re: Trigger on motion possible?

I have scripts that alert my media center that motion was detected. It notifies me and will show me the image.

Please share.  Many here would like to see / use / modify these scripts.  What tools are you using?

Thanks.

Re: Trigger on motion possible?

I would but are they even usable by the logitech software? By media center is using XBMC, it has quite an extensive interface via http. I can call a URL to post a message or even change the current playing video to my camera image.
