Will the new outdoor alert security system work on a detached garage?

I have a garage 40 feet away that would be the best location for the outdoor camera. It's a fully wired garage. Will the new alert system work or should I go with a different system?

It will depend on many factors. Are you going to hook to the camera using HomePlug or PoE?

If the garage is on the same electrical circuit as where your Commander is running then it will probably work just fine using HomePlug but most likely a detached garage has its own circuit which may present problems getting the video transferred across electrical circuits using HomePlug.

If you hook to that camera using PoE then you should not have any problems as a PoE fed camera uses Ethernet Standards which can transfer a signal up to 100 meters. (About 320 feet). So if you have a PoE capable router or switch on your network and you can run a cable from that to your camera then you should have no problems using our Alert camera in that location.

If you can't run a wire you could also try a wireless ethernet bridge.

hi newzdude, i have a detached garage that is aroung 40 feet away also that i have a camera mounted. it works perfectly fine. i'm guessing it has it's own circuit because nothing goes out in the house when i have shut the breaker off to the garage. ron
