hello all, one of my 700e camera's have a whining sound when the night vision comes on. it doesn't stop. it gets louder then softer. keeps repeating that. i just installed this camera the day before. there's also what appears to be a circle of light when the night vision is on. the camera is installed under a eave that is in sight of the lens, so i'm thinking that is a reflection coming off the eave which is white. other than that, the camera works beautifully. anyone else experienced this? ron

You are correct on the reflection...anything relatively close to the lens will reflect the IR into the lens/cover causing that halo effect.
As for the whining, I had to replace one camera a few months ago that had a similar issue...audio would squeal a bit in night mode...seemed to vary frequency a bit with temperature, but was always there.

i figured out why there was humming noise when the night vision wasn't on. OMG do i feel stupid!. it was my neighbor's and our central air conditioner's. ok, you can stop laughing now. lol. there is still a whining noise when night vision comes on though.

Does this whining noise come on only when the night vision kicks in or does it whine all day? Also, how long does the whining noise last?
Here are a few things I would like you to try:
1, I would recommend that you do a Manual Reset of the Camera to see if this noise can be disabled.
2, If you are not able to reach the camera, do not worry.
a, Unplug the Camera, let it sit for 1 - 2 minutes and then plug the power back in.
b, Check to see if the whining sound re-occurs

the noise occurs only with the night vision on. it never stopped. i unplugged the cam for about five minutes and plugged it back in. the noise starts as soon as the night vision kicks in but now lasts for about 30 seconds. every so often it comes back then stops. keeps doing that. do you think this will lead to other problems? the noise can be annoying. ron

Definitely looks like something is happening when the switch happens.
Here are a two other things that we can try.
1, Have the night vision on, when this sound comes on, go to your commander into the night vision settings and turn it off.
2, Take a trip back to your camera and see if it still makes that noise.
3, We have reached a point, the only other option would be to actually reset the camera manually.
If the Sound stops, when option # 2 is performed, then I would have to do a little more investigation to find out exactly what is causing this. If it doesn't then only a manual reset would let us know what might be the culprit.
There is a lens that gets triggered, if the software does not tell you what it is, resetting the camera will finalize if it is a glitch or it is definitely hardware related.

i don't hear the noise at the camera itself. i hear it through the mike of it. this morning i had to reset the camera (stuck a paper clip in the hole) because the camera stopped recording for quite a few hours, just a live feed, so i did do that. tonight i again unplugged the camera for about 5 minutes and plugged it back in again. the noise still appears when the night vision kicks in, lasts for about 30 seconds, then comes and goes. that never stops.
