Re: not downloading to computer

[ Edited ]

Did you try the directory change I suggested ?

When you deleted the index XML files, were there any other kind of files there too ?  also, any year, month, day sub-directories ?  Did you see a new index XML file get created there when you started Alert Commander ?  ...just trying to flesh-out the behavior variables here.

New laptop had Win7 vs Vista ?  When it found the cameras, did it prompt to assign ownership to the new Alert Commander instance ?

Anyway, a very strange/unusual issue...so there must be somnething simple we are missing here.  Sounds like a permissions/firewall/antivirus kind of thing, but hard to say.

LOGITECH ALERT DOWNLOAD PROBLEM SOLVED

I had 4 alert 700's for a month and never once saw a blue segment .I tried everything and asked everyone in tech support . I even tried using a different computer . Twenty different people in tech support tried to resolve the issue but were unable . I am convinced the product is faulty and Im lucky I got my full refund from Best Buy and Future Shop . I wasted hours and hours trying to get the video to download and no one was able to fix the problem now I have to repair the holes in the eaves of my house where the cables came out through . My advise is GET YOUR MONEY BACK before its too late .

Re: LOGITECH ALERT DOWNLOAD PROBLEM SOLVED

 Hello ron48170,

Were you able to get your problems sorted out or are you still having problems with the camera not downloading the r ecorded video's to the commander.  Did you attempt to do the suggestions given to you by "UselessS".

 @ brucej1934,

Sorry to hear that you resorted to returning your camera(s). I am very surprised to hear that 20 different people weren't able to assist you and find a resolution. I have called support myself a few times and I was able to get my problems sorted out with just one person. Those guys are pretty good.

If you can see the camera(s) on the commander, that itself is telling us that they are working. If if was a problem with the recording, then the problem gets refined to Permission issues/ problems with the SD Card/recording feature. You had 4 camera(s) so it would have had to be either permission issues or Recording feature/SD Card issue.

I highly doubt that the camera(s) were faulty. Sometimes, you have to scratch everything and start from the ground up.

Take Care

Re: LOGITECH ALERT DOWNLOAD PROBLEM SOLVED

hi beastcompany, the camera  started to record again when i last posted so i didn't do anything to it. (can't fix nothing that's not broke) since then the alert commander couldn't find that cam for about six hours one day when i was at work, but just before i got home, it was found again. that's the only problems i have had with that camera. i would like to know what could have caused it to come up lost. no  motors or anything were running on that circuit when it was lost. the powerline performance is 181.0 and the bandwidth is 19140kdps. any suggestions anyone?  thanks   ron

Re: LOGITECH ALERT DOWNLOAD PROBLEM SOLVED

Well, all it takes is one power glitch...so really hard to say without having some kind of power monitoring over time to correlate with.  As you say, the diagnostics look fine...thus my guess to a momentary glitch/issue on the line.  I think a lot of the issues people see with SD cards are due to the same thing...a power glitch when it was trying to write to the SD card.  Without going all PoE with a UPS, I'm not sure what I could recommend.

Re: LOGITECH ALERT DOWNLOAD PROBLEM SOLVED

i was thinking power glitch also, but i don't think a glitch would last for six hours though. the other two cams came up lost a couple times in the past but come back again in a few seconds. that seems normal to me. i mean what system is perfect? i wouldn't trade this logitech system for any other out there. it has been good to me. (watch, now i probably just jinxed it)

Re: LOGITECH ALERT DOWNLOAD PROBLEM SOLVED

No, the glitch wouldn't last 6 hours...but it may leave the camera in a bad state for that long...may depend on what the camera was doing at that instant.  At some point, the camera tries to time-sync and may restart when it realizes something is not right...then comes back up.  If you unplug it and plug it back in, that forces the reboot as well...and will normally come back up.  Anyway, that's my theory <g>  I'm all PoE on a UPS so I don't see those issues, but I have friends & relatives that I've setup with Alert systems on HomePlug...and they do on occasion.
