I am having the exact same problems as above. I am seriously fighting this wheel. I've tried changing all settings (all possible force feedback numbers, power steering assist skid force, etc.) and no matter what the steering wheel basically has a mind of its own. It wants to fishtail on straighaways and in corners it just goes insane turning in all directions. I can tense up and fight it, but once I start turning a bit in the direction I want to go it takes over, turns more in that direction, then jerks back the other direction.
In the NASCAR tests I find it is trying to drive me into the wall, and rally racing is just impossible. I've never made it past turn 2 in a rally race. It seems other people are having similar problems, and I have found no clear solutions. Will logitech clear this up please!

Same issue. This is actually my THIRD one TODAY that I have exchanged. I figured I was doing something wrong so I decided to investigate further. I have a feeling the entire shipment to the gamestops in my area have been tainted. Random note the second one I picked up today had dead bugs in it. Yeah dead beetles. Awesome. Every wheel has calibrated itself fine but once you start racing it does bizarre things. My favorite is the back and forth rocking for no apparent reason. Also the random 360 on a straight away.
This is quite a headache.
As I am typing this it is driving backwards in a zig zag. Bravo.
I believe logitech needs some better quality control.

This problem seems very widespread and I don't know why Logitech isn't doing more about it. Mine was driving as you posted above. I then went on youtube to watch some cam videos and promotional videos of the wheel. They have people almost taking their hands off on the straightaways. Mine would send me flying into all walls if I did that.
Anyways, I returned mine to get rid of that piece of crap and will just play the rest of the game with the controller.
I think it must be a problem with the force feedback setup. I changed mine between 1 and 10 and noticed no difference at any settings.
I'm just wondering, is this a bad batch, is it in a certain geographical area? I'm in Ontario, Canada.

Southern Michigan... I have set the wheel to simulation mode and turned the force feedback down to 1. But it is still jerky and just strange. But its more playable than it was which leads me to believe is everyone who is happy with this product not questioning the jerky nature this wheel can deliver.
For the most part if you're turning the wheel it seems great and feels accurate.
Before the race starts however during the countdown in GT5 the wheel will just turn from right to left. Not all the way as if it was calibrating but in the selected area between the right and left resistance zones. So it leaves me to believe that the lack of resistance in going straight is malfunctioning or something. Which has also caused the loss of the force feedback in some situations because of the jerky behavior and causing me to spin how to quickly correct myself from the random release of the force feedback.
I'm looking into other wheels at the moment but if this is just how force feedback works on these wheels I don't think I want to use one at all. It makes the simple task of over taking another car quite a feet to overcome.

You probably just need to learn how to drive.

If you can justify why a driving wheel is turning itself when the car is stationary and then instantly stops at anything between 1-50 mph then I am all ears. It starts back up somewhere in the 50-70 range and then stops again near 200mph.
I have set the force feedback low enough that I can still win races with the wheel in the extreme series but that doesn't mean that I still think the thing is acting up for no apparent reason.
Let me know when you're on the expressway next time and your steering wheel decides to jerk randomly from left to right. In fact I bet you can let go of it and your car will maintain a straight path.

Different wheel same issue. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3DkQmPTAUQI&feature
I guess this is the intended function of the wheel and perhaps and an issue with gt5 but I have had it with other games as well.
My current settings are set to simulation mode with a force feedback of 1. This will allow you to play pretty normally and keep the car in control when it decides to get too excited and wiggle on you.
Going to look into http://www.fanatec.de/ driving wheels and see if the same occurs in gt5. Happy racing.

Am having the same problem with the wheel swerving on a straight road. The car is also slower with the DFGT than the standard controller (my son and I had the same car playing multi player and he had heaps more acceleration). Wheel works perfectly on the PC in rFactor and Live for speed. in Australia. I haven't tried it on other games on PS3 yet, have had wheel for 1.5 years but PS3 since xmas. Hope this can get worked out soon.

Hello, Hope you can help, I have had 3 of these wheels in 2 years now, first the force feedback just stopped working mid lap and a funny smell came from the wheel, as I bought it from Argos its was swapped over no problem, the same thing happened to my second wheel 1 WEEK later! swapped again no problem. this third wheel has now broken too, this time mid lap smoke and a spark came out of it and again the force feedback stopped working and the gt logo flashes! on the first wheel i had the force turned up high and had problems with the car swerving around like the other people so try turning it down that stopped the problem its because the wheel is stronger than you!!! I also thought that might be the problem with burning out the motors but on the other two wheels I had the force feedback turned down to 4. it still broke! I ve been in contact with Argos again and they have no stock and no idea when or if they are getting more! is there any information you can give me please? Maybe when more stock is expected or if I can deal with Logitech instead? any help much appreciated as im stuck with a broken wheel!
J.
