Re: G27 and GT5

[ Edited ]

I was actually supposed to receive a copy direct from Sony this morning at 10:30, but the shipping company they chose to ship it to me decided to, well, I guess be morons and just shuffle it around Los Angeles for the past 24 hours.

sbrage- I'd give an official opinion, but we've been waiting like everyone else to finally see this. And yeah, the DFGT is the official wheel for the game, so it makes sense that most of the time they'd be hammering on it the most.

ANYways, we're seeing numerous reports that most users are quite happy and are observing complete functionality of their G27 wheel in GT5. I don't have it so I can't verify offhand, but posted on another forum:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm not sure if it has already been mentioned but my GT5 arrived today and I use a G27. Clutch works without pressing triangle. Led rev lights works. Flappy paddles work. Happy days!
Re: G27 and GT5
Most important aspects of G27 are supported (both shifters, clutch, RPM lights), but then again G27 (or G25) are nowhere to be seen in the steering wheel configuration panel. You can't remap any of the buttons on G25/G27 in the game. For example there is no way to assign driving lights or windscreen wipers to any button. All extra buttons on G25/G27 are useless currently.
Really shame that Logitech and Polyphony Digital have not sorted this out, and the best racing wheels are still not 100% supported by the best console racing game.
Re: G27 and GT5
Good news that all the main mechanical functions are working.  Remapping the buttons aren't that big a deal IMO and I'm sure that's something that can be fixed with an update somewhere down the line.  My biggest concern was that the "firmware" issues Kaz was talking about would be related to the pedals and/or shifter.
Re: G27 and GT5
Hi all,
Not only is the wheel not fully supported and therefore not fully functional in GT5 (buttons etc.), the 'feeling' thru the wheel is in my opinion not optimal. There is no real sense of driving the car realistically.
The reason for buying this (expensive) steeringwheel, is purely to get best feedback what 'the car' is doing on the track.
I specially bought this steering wheel for GT5 and so it's pretty dissapointing that first of the wheel is not supported, but even worse it's not functioning/responding as it should be. Furthermore, compared to GT Prologue, it almost seems like the wheel is behaving better in Prologue than in GT5 itself.
I'm wondering if other G27/G25 users are experiencing the same problems / lack of 'feeling / response'.
(even when the feeback setting in GT5 set to +10, cars low-end (Honda Civic) and High-end (Audi R8 en BMW M3) feel almost identical).
I really hope that Logitech will do something about this (update drivers in GT5), since they're also the creators of the Logitech GT (which probably functions better).
Re: G27 and GT5
In general the wheel seems very nice in GT5 but I have one major issue.
When driving at high speed a force feedback wobble starts which rapidly turns the wheel in alternate directions. This happens if I set the car up on a straight and not put any input into the wheel (just accelerator pedal).
I saw a thread talking about Need for speed which said a similar problem was fixed by adding a 5% deadzone, although I wouldn't want this as I love the fact that the tiniest movement is replicated in game/on screen.
It makes driving at high speed for me very difficult as when I go to turn it depends on which direction the feedback is going as to whether I greatly over turn for the corner or under turn. Either way it makes it much more difficult!
The feedback for normal speed corners, bumping other cars and drops in the track where you lose contact and then land (and get a large amount of feedback) are pretty good. It is just this wobble which is a game breaker when it comes to using the wheel.
Re: G27 and GT5
My G27 wheel works with all functionality in every PS3 and PC game I have. GTR2, NFS Shift, GRID, Dirt 2, F1 2010, you name it. I could even remap my clutch to be my brake in F1 2010 as I have the pedals offset to the right for better heel toe using manual transmission for other games. It's spot on in GT5P.
BUT
I get no second gear using manual transmission in GT5. Ive made sure Im depressing the clutch fully, still nowt.
Im not prepared to play GT5 with paddles for all cars, Ive bought a CIvic Type R and it should have a 6MT, not bloody paddles.
Really dissapointing, especially after all the waiting for GT5. If I cant sort it by Saturday its off on eBay and Im going back to F1 2010. I'm lucky to find 2 hours a week for gaming, I havent the patience to spend hours and hours sorting a problem created by Logitech/Polyphonies lack of giving a toss.
Re: G27 and GT5
buenas tardes.
leyendo su mensaje, a estas alturas ha podido comprobar,que no es compactible el mod. g27 con gran turismo 5, y viendo el ejemplo que pone de un  forero de gt planet, tambien puede comprobar que de cada 1 mensaje de felicidad con el g27, a lado de ese mansaje,tiene 8 mensajes con grandes dudas, y disconformidad co el g27,.
ustedes mismos, tienen puesto en su propia web,la compactibilidad de la rueda con el juego,,
visto ya en gt5 prologue que se pasan el tema unos a otros,o viceversa,(logitech a p.digital.& p.digital a logitech)
¡NO LE PONEN SOLUCION !
los perjudicados somos los de siempre, los consumidores, por favor, NO SE RIAN MÁS DE NOSOTROS, Y PONGAN SOLUCION A SUS PROBLEMAS.
Re: G27 and GT5
[ Edited ]
Hi CharlesB, Frankly, I don't understand how it is possible some people's g27 work completely and some others do not. I have just spent forty minutes trying to get the clutch going and at the end I have had to leave it. I'm awfully dissapointed since I purchased this fully supported gt5 wheel (as logitech site indicates) which is not cheap to find out today (when finally I have received my game by mail) that the thing does not work as it was supposed to. Furthermore, I had even purchased a playseat evolution to go with the wheel and enjoy like a mad kid, but I cannot. Since you write you're getting numerous reports from most customers saying they're very happy, I would kindly ask you to please provide us with a manual on how to make the clutch work at once (which is a quite important feature of this very much pricy wheel). Btw, I don't think logitech should advertise something as "supported" when it actually is not. Awaiting good news. Regards, Jorge
Re: G27 and GT5
I have a G27 that doesn't seem to work right with GT5 (and I have no problem with it on F1:2010).  It seems like my wheel has a mind of its own - it's almost impossible to steer.
I too hope a patch will come that enables G27 support on GT5, but in the meantime, can someone run me through a setup process for the G27 so it works like some of you say it should?
Thanks!
