Re: But I really, really want the wheel to work with GT5... ;...

[ Edited ]

... ouch .. this is pretty sad

The G27 is the only realistic option for a shifter-wheel for GT5, ignoring the Fanatecs, yet it seems to have been handicapped intentionally by PD due to some obscure notion of illegitimate advantage... just to crush its support and try to force people to by the T500RS, which is apparently made of gold.

With PD releasing dozens of updates for GT5, one can only imagine how simple it must be for them to drop an update to remove this handicap off the G27....

How to make our voices heard? Have dozens of people emailing them doesn't seem like it would be productive... phone calls?

I'm sure if well-organized, it wouldn't take much to get the G27-owners community to group up to try and get PD to solve this...

Sorry e-Mail? What e-Mail ya know I'd almost give my Left Maple Nut for an official e-Mail Address for Polyphony Digital, just to make my displeasure known to them. The best I've ever been able to come up with was the GT5 Forum on the EU-Playstation Site, and as you might guess. It's full of righteous S0NY Defense Forces and Polyphony Digital Apologists who assume that Polyphony have the right to do whatever the flip they like and in short we bought the wrong Wheel in their opinion.

It really makes me wish I had a vector to pick up a Fanatech back then instead of the G27, yeah it would have cost just a bit more then the G27, but would have had less issues with it as well. When what I had in mind was the G25, but was sadly out of production by the time GT5 came out. Yet another fact that seem to have escaped the Trolls over @ S0NYs EU Playstation Forums. Given that the G25 is getting on, and unlike the G27 is mostly made of Plastic (e.g. Cogs), I wouldn't be willing to risk buying such a Wheel off Fleabay for any kind of reasonable Money.

But, if you had,a have a valid e-Mail to PD, then please be a dear and drop it here for the rest of us.

So this squeaky Wheel can go Squeak to someone who might care.

In any case I doubt I'll be supporting Polyphony Digital with my cash any longer.

Thankfully although yet sadly GT5 is not the only Driving Game on the PS3, but WAS the main reason for getting a Wheel in the first place. So I will support the likes of Codemasters, System-3, and Electronic Arts that unlike Polyphony Digital, actually do support the Higher-end Logitech Wheels.

Sadly IMHO Logitech G27 & GT5 Owners are in a very exclusive Club right now. As you might have noticed there was a Facebook Page Link in this Thread. I think it came up 'round late December last year or so, and must have very recently been taken down. in that time ONLY 40 People ever joined that group.

40 People out of the Millions that are using GT5 today. Do the math, Polyphony are in no hurry, (as if they ever were!), to fix this, and they are certainly under no pressure from S0NY nor us for that matter to do so either.

Like those Apples or not, this seems to me at this point (Case in point being the aforementioned Facebook Page), self evident, that nothing is going to change, at least not anytime soon.

I have yet to update to that latest version of GT5, having updated to v.1.07 seemed to break the G27 even more then it was. Most of those issues were corrected in v1.09 however. But, I'm not ashamed to admit my fear and loathing at updating GT5 again.

So, still not working properly with GT5, huh?

The wheel is good though? On it's own, I mean, with games from companies that give a flying kangaroo turd?

No sadly not, but it continues to work just as well as it ever did, the only thing you can not do is reassign Buttons or adjust dead zones, on the Wheel or the Pedals. Other then that the G27 works well enough under GT5.

GT5 news: The 2.0 update will include full Logitech G25 / G27 support!

Oct. 11th (same as the launch date for Forza 4) is set for free download.

Keep your fingers crossed, but it appears they have listened!

It might also be worth noting that GT5 will have also jumped the Shark.

Given that the whole Signature Ed. Competition has now long since ended.

Yeah the "Game" goes on, and I'll for One refuse to hold my breath for this, given PDs' known history of promises regarding the G2x Line.

I thought it was just interesting to note that now that this "Competition" has since come to pass, that PD seem to want to do something that they should have done BEFORE DAY ONE!

It's only a shame that the G27 is not ~directly~ compatible with Forza Motorsport 4.

At least Turn 10, has that much in there defense that's mostly Microsoft's fault though.

But, have you seen the Fanatech CSRs' SWEET!! Plus the fact that they work on the PC, and PS3 to boot!

A shame my old X360 died of RRoD though, otherwise I'd have to get Forza 4.

And, from what I seen it just looks better then GT5.

Outside of the G2x support I really hope PD can get rid of all the Jaggy Shadows.

Gran Turismo 5 revs up for massive update

Nearly a year after its release, Gran Turismo 5 for PlayStation 3 is still getting huge updates based on fan feedback, according to Sony's official PlayStation blog.

Later this month, Polyphony Digital will roll out a big refresh to the popular racing title that boasts many noteworthy improvements. The best part is that the update will be free, and that the game is getting a price cut from $59.99 to $39.99 in the U.S.

All cars will now have an interior view, a feature previously only available for premium vehicles. There's also word of shortened load times (Gran Turismo 5 has one of the most epically long install times of any PS3 game) and improved menu response, which was a somewhat annoying issue previously when players just wanted to get into a quick race.

Another nice addition coming to GT5 is the ability to save progress during endurance races. In the past, events like the Indy 500 were very tedious, because if you shut off the PS3 you'd have to start over. NASCAR fans will also be delighted to see the addition of 11 cars from this year's season.

Too bad we can't control weather like this in real life.

(Credit: Polyphony Digital)

Car physics and the A.I. of opponents are also set to improve, which should add more realism to the experience during competition. Racers will now have more control over weather settings when creating races, as seen above. We also spotted official support for the Logitech G25/G27 steering wheels, new features in the online lounge, and photo travel mode updates.

Overwhelmed yet? More updates are coming down the track, according to the PlayStation blog, which notes that "a forthcoming package of exciting downloadable content for GT5 will include new vehicles and tracks plus a host of other additional new content."

Re: But I really, really want the wheel to work with GT5... ;...

About bloody time, you say?

Talk about the understatement of the Century.

Lol at when the 11th come and goes and nothing has (And I sincerely mean this!), nothing has changed regarding the G27.

I don't think I could relive that whole v1.06 Update over again. I think that would end it for me right there and then.

But, let us assume that PD will finally address the their deficiencies as to the Logitech G27, and to whatever lesser extent the G25, which can be used as a DFGT, and so use the DFGT Profiler under GT5. So that's less of an Issue for those concerned.

Does anyone here even think for a moment that PD are somehow reworded our gratitude for this?

Cause I for One, do not see this as some kind gesture, but merely finishing up a Game that should have been finished the day it went to press.

All I can say is if S0NY weren't the Publishers of GT Whatever, and had to use some other House like EA, Codemasters, Take2 etc. etc... Team PD would have been out on their Arses long ago.

And quite frankly I think it's about time for S0NY to do so.

For a Game that had supposedly  6+ Years of development on a supposedly SUPERIOR System (yeah right), GT5 looks like cr4p. Always has, and like likely always will.

I certainly plain to keep my Eye on Forza 4, It might even convince me to get a new X360, or at least a used One from Game(stop). I've been very interested in the XCM F1 Converter since the first time I herd about it.

About the only bad thing about is the incantation One must perform (with a non standard x360 wired controller), to make the thing work. But perhaps a small price to pay for being able to use the G27 with Forza on the X360.

Re: G27 and GT5 H-shifter

[ Edited ]

I am only having issues with the H-shifter. When I press the clutch the transmission goes to N but will not recognize I've switched to 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6th.  Reverse works for me. Everything else works with the wheel/pedals. I tried using cars which(in real life) would use an H-shifter. I still could not use it. Ideas?
