When Nintendo introduced the Wii in 2006, parents all over brought this innovative gaming system into their homes as another way to reintroduce family time that had been losing its appeal to younger family members. Along the way, Nintendo reaped the tremendous financial rewards as well as recognition as one of the fastest selling systems on the market. Technology, reportedly, has a way of changing the playing field up from time to time and since the introduction of the iPad and Smartphones, the video gaming world has once again been transformed.
According to a recent survey, prepared by MoCoSpace, operators of a Website that deals with mobile games, 72 % of those who play video games, do so while they are commuting. If you start a game on a Nintendo Wii it cannot be continued anywhere else, and with the ability to continue your game on your Smartphone, iPad or other tablet, wherever you go, may be a contributing factor in why, for the first time in Nintendo’s history, they reported a deficit of $460 million. The new Wii U is scheduled to be released later this year, but does not address the transition to mobile gaming either.
