logitech g27 racing wheel.

I WANT TO BUY A NEW G27 RACING WHEEL BUT IM NOT SURE ON HOW IT REALISTICALLY THE WHEEL FUNCTIONS. MY QUESTIONS IS, WHEN STARTING A RACE WHILE IN MANUAL WITH STICK SHIFT IS IT STILL MANDATORY TO HAVE THE CLUTCH DOWN AND IN 1ST GEAR? AND MY OTHER QUESTION IS WHILE DRIVING STICK SHIFT IN MANUAL IF YOU WERE TO TRY TO SHIFT WITH NO CLUTCH WOULD THE GEAR SHIFT TO CHOOSEN GEAR OR WHAT?

Re: logitech g27 racing wheel.

I have the G27, and have only used with with Gran Turismo 5 on the PS3.  In terms of manual transmission and the clutch, at least in Gran Turismo 5, it depends on the car.  You do have to be in the right gear at the start of the race, but some cars you can shift without clutching, and some cars you have to clutch.  For example, the Ferrari F40 you have to use the clutch, but for a Corvette Z06 you don't.  I found the realism to be very good, and at first I actually found it a little harder to drive many of the courses with the wheel.  But after a little while, it came to be easier to drive with the wheel, even with manual transmission than with the PS3 controller.  The force feedback, and just the experience of normal driving, makes the turns on the tight courses a lot easier to deal with.  Overall, its a great wheel from my experience.

Re: logitech g27 racing wheel.

Question on this. I have not really tried to hook my wheel to the PS3. I can tell you this that, it is not working correctly with the PC.

On the PS3 do you just plug it in and go?? I saw on youtube someone using it on Grid. I have Grid but could not see how to use the wheel. When ya go to options, it does not have a wheel setting to switch to?

Yes, on the PS3, its just plug it in and go.  Nothing to install or do, it just works.  You do have to figure out how the PS3 maps the buttons on the wheel, but a quick google search and I found it.
