Navigator as replacement for standard mouse

I haven't been able to find a reference to anybody using a Navigator to replace their mouse completely (i.e. you no longer need to use a mouse at all, and only use the Navigator), so I was wondering whether the people who have one think that this is possible or not?

Using a standard mouse has given me huge problems with RSI, so I am always looking for ergonomic alternatives to replace it. I don't need any of the 3D functionality, so how practical is the Navigator for just scrolling the cursor around the screen and clicking buttons, like you would do with a standard mouse? Is this possible at all or does it only work in 3D applications? Is it comfortable to use? If you have used your Navigator all day (even for 3D navigation), does your hand feel sore / stiff later?

Any feedback is appreciated!

Re: Navigator as replacement for standard mouse

It doesn't move the cursor, so would not work as a mouse replacement. I suggest a trackball mouse. I have the Kensington one with the big ball, and it has really helped.
