Difference between G430 and G230?

Is the only difference (besides color) in the G430 and G230 the USB adapter? I know the G430 is 7.1 Dolby Headphone but I also know that its still just a 2 channel headset (as indicated by the fact that it connects using a standard stereo TRS connector into the USB adapter) and that the "surround sound" is acheived by HRTF performed in the DAC.

So I'm wondering what the technical differences are in the headsets themselves.

Hello MeSham,

Based on the specifications of the G430 Surround Sound Gaming Headset and the G230 Stereo Gaming Headset, their major difference is that G430 supports surround sound (requires software installation) while the G230 is limited to stereo and does not have any software support. All other specifications indicated on the product page are identical. You can check the specifications of the two models using the following links:

But I'm guessing that you can just use Razer Surround and use software to get from stereo to surround. I'll save myself the $20 as Razer's software is free until the end of the year, and will future-proof any headsets later on.
