I have the same problem as xanodia. I think i know what happens. Since the latest driver update, there are less audio-sources that activate the surroundsound capavility's of my G35 headset. What this does in practice is that whenever i listen to music or watch a video on youtube, it plays the sound in the default stereo mode. However when there comes an sound from another source (in my case ventrilo or steam notifications) it for some reason decides that those are surround sound worthy and activate it for as long that sound plays and a bit longer. This makes for a very anoying volume fluctuation in the music / video sound. I have tested it with sourround sound turned off and that fixes the problem of the volume fluctuations but that isn't a realistic solution since it alse severely decreases the audioquality. I don't know exactly what has been changed in this latest driver for the G35 (i don't know if other headsets experience the same problem) But i would suggest restoring it to the way it was. Also is there a way to force the driver to keep using surround sound, even for sources it for some reason deems unworthy?

I have the exat same headset and exactly the same issue with the latest LGS driver, so i went back to the old one which i found on their FTP site and it worked fine again, really sad they dont make sure these stuff work properly before releasing new driver though :/
