ive got an issue with my H340 mic. The mic volume is too low even though Its maxed out in my audio mixer. When I record with camtasia its so low that camtasia has to boost the volume and it produces loud noise in the background.

You can try adjusting the microphone level in the control panel instead.
-Go to the Control Panel.
-Click Hardware, then select Sound.
-Go to the Recording tab.
-Right click the Logitech USB Headset H340, then click Properties.
-Go to the Levels tab.
-Increase the Microphone level.
I hope this helps.

Just bought a new H340 for use with my Mac.
Headphones work fine, but mic is unusably low volume. It does kinda work, but the volume is so low that it's unusable. With Skype it sounds like I'm talking very quietly some distance from the mic.
I have sound input at max volume in Sound preferences and auto-max volume in Skype.

I have the same issue with this headset - the microfone is not picking up much sound.
Tried it on multiple windows 7 system and with or without skype.
Sliders are maxed out but appear to have little impact.
I even tried speaking directly in the microfone but that does not give the desired output.
I am thinking that this is just a bad design/manufacturing issue and not a software related issue.

I am facing the same problem with this model. There is quite a bit of background noise (a humming sound) when I am recording even though there is nothing like that in the background. Also it doesn't appear to capture the sound unless i take off the headset and speak into the microphone..
Tried adjusting all kind of recording settings via control panel, to no avail. I am using win 8.1 64 bit on a Dell Inspiron PC

I've been doing all the steps outlined in your reply/post EVERY DAY - it will not allow me to APPLY, so I have to reset the level every time I shut down for the night. Is this headset compatable with Windows 7? I didn't have this issue with Windows XP. I changed OS about 2 months ago.
By the way, I was on hold for tech support for 10 minutes to get assistance, was explaining to the rep what is going on, and she hung up on me! ARGH!

I have to say, I have been battling with this issue recently. It did work with my previous computers before and earlier with the WIN7 computer I'm using right now but late last year it suddenly is low even after I maxed out the mic volume. Same thing on my Sony VIAO Win7 laptop. Is this a hardware issue?
