Big problem with 0 and DEL key

I have posted on this in the past, and wanted to try one more time to see if there is anything I might be missing.

I have had my G19 keyboard for about 2.5 years now- up until a few months ago, it worked just fine.

Then, I noticed the zero key on the keyboard no longer worked. In addition, I found the DEL key on the keyboard no longer worked either. All other keys function normally.

Now the really weird part - I can eventually get these keys to work, by pressing one of them repeatedly off and on, off and on, over and over, and eventually it will start working. Here is what I do:

I open notepad, and do the above with the zero key on the keyboard. Until eventually I start seeing zeros displayed in notepad. They may be intermittent at first, but if I keep doing it they eventually will start repeating and being displayed normally.

Now the other really wierd part - once I get the zero key working, then always the DEL key will work.

Likewise, if I do the same with the DEL key when they are not working, and get it to work , then the zero key will work. Oftentimes once I get them to working , they will then be working fine all day long, or at least until I reboot the pc - then I have to rinse and repeat so to speak.

I have tried different usb ports - I have it plugged into a usb port on the back of my pc - that goes straight to the mb. I have tried it on a different computer, still the same.

Surely the fact that is always these two keys together , that either do not work, or when I get one to working then the other does, is a clue as to what might be the problem?

I really, really like my G19 but am very dissappointed in this issue. I might even consider getting another one at some point, but would like to hear that mine is a very rare occurence perhaps? I don't think I have ever seen anyone post here with the same symptoms... Are failing keys a common issue with this keyboard?

I would sure appreciate any feedback at all here.

Thanks,

kgober

Re: Big problem with 0 and DEL key

this sounds to me like a hardware problem, and I wouldn't be at all surprised to hear that there are other keys that also have issues in addition to zero and del.  I am assuming that zero and del are on the same row or column of one of the G19's key matrices, and that other keys on that same row or column will probably have issues as well.

I'm guessing that repeated use of a 'broken' key causes a physical change in the electronics that accumulates over time (possibly temperature, or maybe capacitance).  I'm curious if the problem is better or worse when the keyboard is very warm or very cold.

Re: Big problem with 0 and DEL key

Thanks for the feedback Ken,

The best I can tell, from my testing, it is only the zero key on the keyboard, and the delete key that are involved in this.

It never works right way from a cold boot, and I can eventually get it to work by doing as I described above, sometimes in may take 10 minutes or so before I can get it working, other times it might take much longer of trying off and on throughout the day.
