G13 + World of Tanks = loss of perfomance

Hello there. Recently bought G13 keyboard, installed LGS 8.20 and got stuck with a problem in World of Tanks. Profiles, keys and lcd works fine, but not the game. It runs very slow with LGS, for example: without LGS (g13 not working) my average FPS in the game= 90-120, when LGS turned on (g13 working fine) = FPS 15-25. I've tried almost everything possible to solve the problem, but with no effect. Game freezes very badly - alt+tab - LGS off - alt+tab - game works fine again. I'm running Win 7 x64 Ultimate, tried to install Logitech Game Panel instead of LGS, tried to unplug all othe usb devices, tried running the game in a new clean Windows 7 x64 in the end, but the result is always the same = terrible loss of performance in World of Tanks. It's strange, but all the other my games works fine with g13, tried Aion and Battlefield 3, no problems, all works as it was before g13. Need help, don't know what else I can try.

Re: G13 + World of Tanks = loss of perfomance

does this problem happen if LGS is running, but you do not have any active profile running?

my first thought was that this is related to LGS's use of OpenGL for its enhanced UI (which can be disabled), but if you uninstalled LGS, installed LGPS and saw the same problem then that wouldn't be it because LGPS didn't use OpenGL.

It happens in all types of situations, with WoT profile runnig, with default profile running, tried to disable the option you mentioned - no effect either. Now looking for older LGS drivers, cause on the game's forum in my topic with the problem there's another guy with same problem as mine. As he said the problem appeared after release of the new version of logitech drivers in his case, so i'll give it a try.

Looks like I've solved the problem for myselft, but it's hardly can be called a solution. I've tried many old drivers and found the right ones for me, it is Logitech Game Panel 3.01 x64. With them my World of Tanks runs fine. Any versions of LGP above that one and any versions of Logitech Gaming Software are not good for me, they lead to the problem. I guess that the problem is in the "World of tanks applet", but I may be wrong. Anyway, I'll be glad if anyone'll find a better solution.

does World of Tanks support the Logitech LCD?  maybe the problem is with the way they submit screen updates to the LCD -- there are two ways to do this, one of them waits for the update to complete before returning and the other one starts the update but returns immediately without waiting for it to complete.  if they're using the first method instead of the second that could certainly explain the FPS loss.

if this game uses the LCD, you might be able to use newer software versions if you disable the LCD support, in the game itself if there's an option to do so, and if not in the Logitech software (in v3.01 it's done in LCD Manager, which is separate from the Key Profiler application, but in v7.x and v8.x LGS software it's all integrated into a single app).

Sorry, didn't get this part clearly.
Not sure whether i chose the right option in LGS 8.x, but i think i sucessfuly tried to disable the LCD support and got no effect in game. Can you test it yourself? This game uses free-to-play model, and can be downloaded from:

Re: G13 + World of Tanks = loss of perfomance

Honestly, not seeing that issue on my work laptop, and I have a G13 and a G510 plugged in. Though, I am running a build of LGS 8.30, but as far as I know, the G13 wasn't touched significantly between the builds. Also, it's tough to be empirical in my situation: My laptop only has a GTX460m, and I can't test on the same map with the same tanks every time, and some maps in that game can have radically different framerates.

My home computer is an i7 with a 6870, so I may see a larger difference there. For now I would try disabling the enhanced graphics then rebooting as per kgober's suggestion. I've also found that disabling EHCI handoff and using the northbridge-controlled USB ports help (The Etron 3.0 ports on my motherboard cause things to chunk down if used while gaming)

Hmm, maybe some ingame graphics options cause this issue, i'm running overclocked i7 with dual gtx 480 in sli and 12 gigs of ddr-3, so the optimal graphic paramerts that game choses for me are "highest". I tried setting graphic options to "lowest" and in that case there was no difference whether I'm running LGS or not, fps were 120-130 all the time, so i guess there's some ingame graphic option that turns things badly with LGS. But I didn't have much time to try all the possible variatons of graphic options, cause the game needs to be restarted every time for the changes to take effect.

Re: G13 + World of Tanks = loss of perfomance

Well, we don't know if the framerate limit is an engine cap or not. There might be an undefined bottleneck somewhere. What does your processor utilization hit during the game?

Also, I <3 my i7's overclockability. I'm at 4.5Ghz on all 4 cores on stock voltage, 25C idle and 55C full load. Beastly.

Anyways, let's not dismiss any theories yet. I'm still a fan of disabling EHCI handoff, which you should enable if you're running Windows 7. Try that and let us know.

I would like to say that there's defiently something wrong with the software and world of tanks. ive posted screen shots in the world of tanks to show that there' something wrong. i like to add that im using G15 not the 13, forgot to add that for some reason it would downlock my card even when forced maxium performance in nvidia control panel. as soon i close LGS my fps goes back to normal.

System specs

I7 920 OC 4.2

Evga 590 Classified "latest drivers "duh" "

12 gigs of ram "corsair dominator gt "

Re: G13 + World of Tanks = loss of perfomance

The problem is definitely with LCD applet named "World of tanks" - that shows the current game score and the time before the round ends. Bad part is that i can switch it off in the logitech settings, and even delete it from there, but when i start the game it appears again, just like some kind of magic) So the solution for me is to use old logitech software (currently using Logitech GamePanel 3.01 x64), it doesn't have the support of this applet and everything works fine.
