G-Series Gaming Keyboards

I am a programmer who bought this keyboard for the macro functionality and the LCD sdk (I made a nice Outlook add-on showing new emails and upcoming appts).  The macros don't seem to work properly with terminal services.  It appears to record them fine but there is a issue with the way terminal services processes the macro and doesn't acknowledge more than one key being pressed at a time.  When I record SHIFT-Q the result will be 'q'.  I can't use any key combinations eliminating shift, ctrl, alt keys.  I know this isn't the focus of the keyboard, but feel this is a significant loss of functionality.  There are few macros I can program which are useful within a remote desktop session.  Is there any workaround or can a bug be fillled to investigate?

I noticed a simiar problem while using macros with RDP sessions.  Here's the work around I found...

When you build a macro with the Logitech software, it defines a difference betweeen RIGHT shift and LEFT shift.  You may notice that any time you use the RIGHT shift, then RDP won't recognize that as a shifted character.  However if you use the LEFT shift key, it should work just fine.  That's what I had to do and it seems to work great for me.

I don't know why this is the case, or where the fault lies (RDP or the Logitech software) but I'd like to see it get fixed eventually even though the work around is fairly simple.

I have an update on this.  The problem seems to stem from mstsc eating keystrokes and not passing it on to the other programs on the keyboard hook.  There is nothing Logitech can do abut this, I think.  But there is a workaround.

1.  Launch terminal services (remote desktop): run mstsc
2. Click Options button
3. Click Local Resource tab
4. In the keyboard section, apply Windows keys combinations, select On the local computer

You're macros will now run as expected.  However, you won't be able to do Alt-Tab to swap windows or use the Windows key on the remote machine.

Optionally, use the default which is In full screen mode only.  Just be aware, when maximized in full screen mode your macros won't work as expected.  But restore the window so that it is not full screen, and you will be able to use your macros.  Once done, maximize again back to full screen.

I am having trouble with mstsc and I have the PRO 2800 cordless desktop.

I am not sure what G15 macros even are.

But Alt+Tab and such are NOT sent to the remote/host machine even though i have selected this in options before I went in.

I am not positive that this is because of the keyboard but I suspect it is.

I use Alt+Tab adn Alt+Space several times a minute.  And when I use MSTSC being without them renders me almost useless. . . .

Anyone know how to fix this.

Maybe this should be in another post??

this forum is for the G-series 'gaming' keyboards, which have extra G-keys which can be programmed with macros.  the PRO 2800 cordless desktop doesn't have G-keys, and discussions about G-key macros don't apply to it.

as far as mstsc.exe is concerned, the PRO 2800 is just a regular keyboard.  any problems you're experiencing with it are likely to also occur with any other keyboard, even a Microsoft keyboard.
