CharlesB:
A) I haven't tested to see if this happens on multiple PCs because I may have found that it only does this with the recently acquired G13 plugged in.
B) This can happen either when typing or while it is sitting there untouched. In particular, the other night when it completely shut off, it was OK for maybe an hour after getting home from work, then it shut off when I pressed a G key (on the G15). Note that I used the same G key a couple times in the hour prior to this. Other instances, it would throw a fit turning on/off a few times, then would be OK for a few seconds/minutes, then would act up again with no keyboard presses--I was just watching the light show. I can't recall 100%, but I think once or twice, I walked away from the PC for a few minutes (with the G15 fine), came back, tried to type, but found I couldn't because the G15 was turned off.
To elaborate on A above, I found out last night that when the G15 was having an issue, unplugging the G13 caused the issue to cease. I kept the G13 unplugged the remainder of the evening and didnt encounter any more problems. Could there be a compatiblity issue with the G15 and G13? Note that the issue occured no matter what USB ports I used for the combination: 1) G13 and G15 connected to MB ports, 2) G13 connected to MB, G15 connected to separate USB adapter card, 3) G1 and G15 connected to separate USB adapter card, 4) G13 connected to powered USB hub connected to MB, G15 connected to separate USB adapter, etc. The interesting thing though, on Saturday and maybe Sunday, both the G13 and G15 worked great, then the problems showed up again Monday (no changes made).
I'm thinking about ordering a new keyboard (G510), but I don't want to spend the money and find out the issue persists. Also, it's interesting that it only occurs with the G13 plugged in.

I have an orange G-15 and have used it every day for the past 3 years or so. I do not game much so there are no macros set. I like the G-15 because it is solid, narrower than my old G-10 and it still has 2 USB ports for connectivity so I generally do not have to open the desk to plug in smaller USB devices.
That being said, I had the same problem for a while. What I discovered was the mouse I was running through it had a short in it's (really old) cable. Whenever you moved the mouse cable just right it invariably caused this same exact issue (keyboard goes dead for ~10 seconds then re-initializes). I replaced the mouse with a new one and this keyboard has not done it since (over 2 years later).
Nearest I could guess is there is some sort of safety turn off when the keyboard gets an overload or cross circuit, so a faulty keyboard cable could possibly cause the same issue. I am not a Logitech technician so this is only a guess based on what I have seen.
