G19 Media Key Issue (only function: Play/pause)

Hello all,

i got my new Logitech G19 Keyboard today after my blue G15 died last weekend.

All functions on the G19 work except the media keys:

Stop, foward, backward, volume and mute. All these keys trigger the multimedia "play/pause" event. In VLC, Foobar2k, Windows media player.

I'm using Windows 7 x64 German (also tested this on an x86 Vista machine, same problem)

Game Panels tested are 3.03 (from the CD) and the newest 3.06.

Yes, the HID - Service is active and started :smileywink:

Can somebody point me in the right direction to fix this or is it hardware failure?

Re: G19 Media Key Issue (only function: Play/pause)

if it's doing this on two different machines it sounds like hardware failure.

Re: G19 Media Key Issue (only function: Play/pause)

I'm having the same issue.  I'm running mine on Mac OS X 10.6.4.

Both of us would have to be mighty unlucky if we both have hardware failure.  Especially since the keys that aren't functioning still have backlighting.

Re: G19 Media Key Issue (only function: Play/pause)

i think there might be a problem with the "software" running on the keyboard itself and translating the buttons into commands for the pc. i'll get my replacement tomorow and try that :/

Here is a post I found after hours of searching. I knew that this couldn't be a hardware failure.

To get the volume roller/media keys/mute button working again, do the following:

1. Open Control Panel
2. Select Administrative Tools
3. Open Services
4. Find "Human Interface Device Access"
5. Right click, start
6. Right click , properties
7. Set startup type as Automatic

Then go and check the hotkey list in your program ... media monkey, winamp, etc. make sure if you can reset up the keys and have them clicked for Global, boom they should all work again.

Hope this helps others!

Re: G19 Media Key Issue (only function: Play/pause)

that fix is for a different problem.  the problem the OP had was hardware-related.

Re: G19 Media Key Issue (only function: Play/pause)

I kind of have the same problem, but my mute and volume button works.

The Play/Pause, Stop, Next and Previous buttons does not work, I've tried to reinstall the drivers and turn HID on and off.

Nothing seems to work, and I can't figure out what's wrong..

I found this thread trough google and I had the exact same problem.

Went to the apropriate forum and found this for the latest version of LGS (8.01.120)

Known issues include:

  • If you have Logitech Gaming Software installed, SetPoint installed, and have a SetPoint enabled keyboard installed, one of the following issues can occur:
  1. The media key will NOT register when a user presses a media key on a keyboard (SetPoint managed) while a media player (KNOWN by SetPoint) is running in the background.
  2. The media key will NOT register when a user presses a media key on a keyboard (SetPoint managed) while a media player (UNKNOWN by SetPoint) is running in the foreground.
  • To resolve this:
  1. Go into Windows Sideshow control panel.
  2. Uncheck both items in the "Windows Media Player" row
  3. Close the window
