Hey wwkman, the latest BIOS update for the ASUS P6T Deluxe is ver. 2101 (dated 02/24/2010), not 2021. Go check the ASUS support site at http://support.asus.com/ There's not much new in that BIOS, though you still might want to upgrade.
Anyways, I have the same motherboard as you (The P6T Deluxe) and I can confirm your observations. I've found that I get the best behavior out of my G19 by plugging it directly into a rear USB port with nothing plugged in next to it, and by using cable management to keep the cables as far away from each other as is feasible.
I agree that Logitech should have designed this product differently: The keyboard should be on it's own USB root-hub line, while the LCD plus the on-board USB hub should be on a separate root-hub line. I can see why they designed things the way they did: They wanted to have the product utilise just the one USB port because they didn't want to be accused of using up USB ports unnecessarily or overbuilding the thing. But you know what? Maybe they should have built a prototype that used two USB root-hub lines because the G19's single-USB line design obviously has issues.
Here's hoping the Logitech product development engineers will pay more attention to the quality control aspects of R&D in the future. They obviously missed something with the G19's development, that's for sure.
**sigh** I miss my original G15. Why the hell did Logitech have to discontinue that thing? It rocked. I spilled coffee on it, so it's death was my fault, not Logitech's. But still: It was awesome, even with a B&W monochrome display and no USB 2.0 support. It just worked! **sigh**
Sorry I've been away from this thread: I've had my actual day job here at Logi rear it's head (As well as I had my vacation somewhere in the middle of my hiatus), so I've had to concentrate on that lately. That being said, I'll answer some of the more recent posts:
Hadakajime- The G110 is built with the same design logic as the G19 with the hub being the system-facing portion, and the rest of the devices hardwired into the hub, so it may run into some of the same motherboard compatibility kerfluffles. It is more resistant to RF interference, though, because it does not have additional voltage flowing into it from a AC adapter.
Raus- I'd contact your local customer support team. They'll run through the steps to troubleshoot a situation like that.
wwkman and Sarge- The trick is that we had to make this keyboard USB-IF certified, so AFAIK, we had to follow the concept of a single USB connector to a USB2.0 hub, which had to be powered as per USB spec to put the USB 2.0 logo on the box, through which the rest of the device was connected.
The only surefire way to keep USB compliance and deal with these motherboard oddities is to remove the USB hub altogether, and as far as I know, we are not planning to strip that feature out of the G19. That doesn't mean we're ignoring the situation though, but we're not about to kneecap the G19 and take out one of the most requested features from all prior G-series keyboards (USB 2.0 hub instead of a 1.1 hub).
