As it says in the subject title; my G19 Media keys are not working with VLC player. They work fine with Windows Media Player.

I came across this post with the same problem and will post my solution in hopes it'll help somebody out there.
I have Windows 7, a G9 mouse and a G19 keyboard.
Go into control panel, administrative tools, services. Find "Human Interface Device" and start the service if not already started. Set the startup type to "automatic".
Go to windows sideshow in control panel and uncheck both options for logitech. I'm not entirely sure that step is necessary, so try it without first.
In VLC, as of 1.1.11, you have to go to interface, preferences, hotkeys, and doubleclick the GLOBAL hotkey you need to set. Press the media key on the keyboard, and it'll return but will act like nothing changed. Click "Apply" and it should show you the media key identification of the key you pressed. Once you have setup all your keys, save, and completely exit and restart VLC.

uhmm wow that is EXACTLY what fixed it for me... so I wouldn't say that step is unnecessary... very very strange thing... unchecking the two things made VLC hotkeys work fine now. weird.
