Game detection issues in G-series Profiler Software

[ Edited ]

Note to Vista 64 users - before posting in this thread, try disabling UAC.  This allows the Profiler to work correctly in many cases.

Currently, the G-series Profiler Software supports 125 titles, which we test for functionality on multiple systems in our QA department.  In reading these forums I see a number of people having issues with game detection - either the game is not being detected as having been installed, or it is detected but the profile does not work when the game is active.  In an effort to figure out what's going on, I am asking for your assistance.  If you are having issues with the Profiler not detecting a game FOR WHICH YOU HAVE CREATED A PROFILE, please reply to this post with the following information:

Game name:

OS: (Vista, XP, 32 bit, 64 bit...)

Install drive and directory: (if you chose something other than the default)

Install method: (CD, download, other - please note that not using the manufacturer's official installer can cause detection problems)

Detection issue: (does not detect game is installed, detects install but does not play back key assignments properly, etc)

Please limit your replies to the above five pieces of information only, and thanks in advance for helping us make our software better.

As of the 3.03 beta, the below are the titles which should be detected by the profiler.  If your game is not in this list, you don't need to list it in this thread unless you create a profile for it manually and it is still not detected.

Re: Game detection issues in G-series Profiler Software

[ Edited ]

Hi,

OS: Windows Vista 64bit Ultimate SP2 (v.286)

Environment: 3 HDD's C, D + E

In this case, for me it's which game IS it detecting :smileyhappy:

Good:

Call of Duty:Modern Warefare    installed via CD                          D:\Vista\COD4\iw3mp.exe

Games that do not work (for me)

Warhammer Online,   install method: CD,  E:\Games\Warhammer Online,  Problem: No detection

Call of Duty: World at War,   install method: CD, E:\Games\Call of Duty - World at War\,  Problem: No detection

Unreal Tournament 3,   install method: Steam,  D:\Vista\Steam\,  Problem: No detection

Fallout 3,   install method: Steam,  D:\Vista\Steam\,    Problem: No detection

Trackmania: United Forever,   install method: Steam,  D:\Vista\Steam\  Problem: No Detection

To be honest I don't know which games are supposed to be supported (couldn't find a list) so this is taken from the Game Panel 3.01 software release notes. Safe to say that all my steam games do not detect (and I have a few)

Thanks for looking into this I'm sure others will contribute. If I can be of any other assistance please contact me.

Re: Game detection issues in G-series Profiler Software

Howdy,

As a follow up to this, I tried it on my Windows 7 Beta setup. I know it's probably on your 'non supported' list. but I thought i'd post the results.

OS: Windows 7 Beta - build 7000

Environment: one drive, C:

Working Games:

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare,  Installed via CD,  Standard (default) install path

Non Working:

Call of Duty: World at War,  Installed via CD,  Standard (default) install path

Fallout 3:  Steam install (installed on C:smileyhappy: Default install path (within Steam)

Fear 2: Steam install,  Default install via Steam

Unreal Tournament 3, Steam install

Trackmania United Forever, Steam install

Again the only game detected is CoD:MW, draw from that what you will. I will put an install of XP on tomorrow to see if that has any effect.

Thanks,

Re: Game detection issues in G-series Profiler Software

[ Edited ]

Game name: City of Heroes

OS: Vista 32 bit SP1

Install drive and directory: Default

Install method: download

Detection issue: Does not detect when game is running

UPDATE:  After much trial and error, I got it to run (sorta). Most of what I did I pulled of the City of Heroes forums.  I have to set the profile to "Default Profle" when I log in.  Also, every time restart my computer, I have to unplug the G15 Keyboard, and reconnect it.  Otherwise, the software freezes when I load, and when I toggle in/out of the game.  I have dual monitors, and use the second monitor while playing for game info, so its a rather large annoyance.  Note that it still does not recognize the game when it loads.

Re: Game detection issues in G-series Profiler Software

Game name:  Warhammer Online

OS: Vista Home Premium  64-bit

Install method:  default drive,  downloaded 64 bit driver from logitec site.

Does not detect game is installed,  I can set up the keyboard using the profile keyboard screen and it tests fine, but when i start the game nothing happens.  It does not recognize any of the g keys in game.  As with a previous poster, I can't see any listed games that logitec says the software is compatible.

I just purchased a new drive and am reinstalling my system and programs from scratch.  I have another drive in my box with the exact same software installed including the G-15 keyboard and same Logitec software.  The game works when i launch that drive and has been since i got the game in January.  Doesn't with the new drive.  I tried copying all the settings from the old drive to the new from all the data areas i could find and it still doesn't work on the new drive.  It does work on World of Warcraft even on the new drive.  Other than the drive, all my gear is the same.

Re: Game detection issues in G-series Profiler Software

Game name: World of Warcraft

OS: Vista Home Premium 64bit

Install drive and directory: default

Install method: Download

Detection issue: I don't really use the G-keys but use my lcd alot.  When playing WoW or just in windows environment, The keyboard will load the Warcraft 3 profile according to the lcd.  I don't have WC3.  It was on my computer, but it was taken off properly and shouldn't have a trace of it left.  But the lcd hangs when it loads.  Unless I reboot the computer or unplug my keyboard and plug back in, it will reset the lcd and it'll be fine again.
