Re: GamePanel Software update for Mac os x lion.

You can keep asking but no one from Logitech is likely to answer. The latest version for Mac is over a year old. Since it had a number of known issues which haven't been addressed it seems unlikely that the current issues with Lion will be addressed either. If GamePanel software for Mac is still an active project you will find no evidence of that in these forums.

See, not so much as a "we're aware of the issue and we're addressing it" or "could you provide your system information." Any question about Mac software simply results in silence.

Re: GamePanel Software update for Mac os x lion.

this is a user community forum, primarily intended for us users to discuss things among ourselves.  as such, relatively few threads will get responses from Logitech staff.  if you want to direct your query to Logitech support specifically, I think you'll need to open a support ticket.

sometimes a Logitech staffer does respond on a thread, but as a rule I wouldn't expect it.

I think one of the design goals for the new Logitech Gaming Software (v7.x and v8.x) was to unify the PC and Mac software, but apparently there were issues that have resulted in a delay for Mac users, again.  I don't think anybody is happy about this, Logitech included.

Since both version 7 and 8 have come out for Windows with no update for Macs in over a year I would assume that this is no longer an active project for Logitech. I hope I'm wrong but there is no evidence that Logitech is still working on a new Mac client.

CharlesB posted in March of 2010, "I cannot say when the next major, non-point release will be, but I can confirm that the Mac and PC versions are now developed in parallel to ensure A) Parity between feature performance sets and B) simultaneous, or at least nonstaggered releases."  That obviously didn't happen.

Re: GamePanel Software update for Mac os x lion.

the new v7 and v8 software is based on Qt, which is well known for its cross-platform support.  Qt-based apps are supposed to be extremely portable between Windows and Mac, or even Linux for that matter.

I have no idea what the holdup could have been on the Mac side, unless they had trouble with some of the low-level Mac-specific stuff (like injecting keyboard and mouse events into the system's input queue, even when LGS is running with "user" privileges).

Hard to imagine that OS X could be more difficult in that regard than Windows 7, considering the number of things I have to run as an admin  on my Windows machine but I'm no programmer.

I do question Logitech's PR decision to keep frustrated users in the dark.
