Re: LGS 8.20 is now available for your G-Series Keyboard

[ Edited ]

My system:

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z68A-D3H-B3

PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower XT 775W

CPU: Intel Core i5 2500K @ 4,3GHz

RAM: Mushkin 8GB DDR3 1333MHz (2x4GB)

GPU: 2x GTX 560 Ti

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

Apart from the monitor, which is a Samsung SyncMaster P2450, all perepherals are from Logitech:

Speaker System Z323

G500 Gaming Mouse

G15 V2 Gaming Keyboard

Desktop Mic

Apps I use on the G15 LCD:

Evga Precision to monitor the GPUs usage and temperature.

CoreTemp 1.0 To monitor the CPUs usage, clock speed and temperature.

Logitech LCD Clock

Logitech Performance Monitor

Battlefield Bad Company 2

I updated to the latest version because of the Battlefield 3 profile that was added. I use sleep mode because I have a bunch of fans running at max speed in the case and even though it's not even in the bedroom, it's still too loud during the night. Sleep mode allows me to shut off the fans but still resume my work in a matter of seconds when I return to the computer. Having to restart the computer or the LGS program every time I resume for sleep is extremely unfortunate.

I hope that's enough information for you, but in case you need more I will keep a tab open with this thread and refresh it regularly.

Also, FIY, I did encounter another problem right after installing LGS 8.20. The computer wouldn't go to sleep mode. It would turn everything off and then just start again immediately. I don't know if this was caused by LGS or if this was a coincidence, but after I had uninstalled it and installed the older version it was still happening. I needed to dissallow my network adapter to wake the computer in order to put it to sleep.

I find it unlikely that the Logitech software caused this but I decided to throw it in there since I noticed someone else posted a thread on this forum, having this problem as well on a Vista x64 after installing this software.

DannyV8 - Sending you a PM because I have a bizarro theory that, with that motherboard, I'd like you to try. Chance of it working is like 5%, but if it does, it'll really help me narrow this down with QA.

Re: LGS 8.20 is now available for your G-Series Keyboard

I have been having problems with the LCD display on my G15 keyboard ever since installing LGS 8.20. The problem is that the display freezes when I start my computer about 50% of the time. It just shows a very generic screen with a frozen date and time, but no other applets. Then I restart my PC and it might load fine the next time, and as long as it loads then everything is ok from that point on. Is there a solution for this?

Re: LGS 8.20 is now available for your G-Series Keyboard, but NOT WORKING

After installing version 8.20.74.0 x64 I am getting the following error, consistently in the Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library-

"Program: C:\Program Files\Logitech Gaming Software\LCore.exe

"This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support teamf or more information"

I have reinstalled several times, tried running as an Admin and also setting up the app to run as an Admin, tried deleting all the old profiles and setups from C:\User\Webb\AppData\Logitech Gaming Software, tried uninstalling, rebooting, and reinstalling, tried re-running install in Safe Mode, all to no avail. My setup is as follows:

Windows7 x64, Service Packs up-to-date

ASUS Sabretooth Extreme motherboard

Intel i760 3.45 Ghz

RealTek onboard sound

16 Mb ddr3 RAM

ASUS 1Gb Nvidia GeForce 9800 video card, drivers up-to-date

Razer Naga mouse

G19 Keyboard and G13 gamepad

Any thoughts? My last install (I think it was 8.12) ran flawlessly. Please help!

Re: LGS 8.20 is now available for your G-Series Keyboard

I'm posting this because I have just rolled back to 8.12 and am now getting the same runtime error- obviously something is hosed in your install package. I have reinstalled the Visual C++ 2008 Redistrib package and that does not fix the problem. I now have a non-programmable G19 and a useless G13. Please help!

Re: LGS 8.20 is now available for your G-Series Keyboard- the saga continues...

Got a wild hair after realizing that I was _so_ used to using the G13 for gameplay that I was seriously hampered by its loss, so I called the 646-454-3200 assistance number. Got a jolly fellow who basically told me the 8.xx series software was very unstable (his word was 'crap') when using the G19 and G13 together and that I should switch back to the 3.06 version. When I asked if my profiles would still be usable he assured me they would. It sounded a little hinky, but I figured 'well, this is an official Logitech rep' so I reinstalled 3.06, only to lose my entire array of custom profiles for all my WoW toons as well as all the others. This was 'somewhat irritating' as I had a lot of work invested in them...

I now have my fingers crossed that the backup I made was of the actual profiles I had built for the 7.x and 8.x software. Please at least tell me what I need to do to to at least roll back to an earlier version of 8.x so I can go back to what I was happily doing before this mess began yesterday.

Re: LGS 8.20 is now available for your G-Series Keyboard- the saga continues...

jay-dubya - PM me your case number or the name of the agent you spoke with. Agents are supposed to resolve the situation and they are trained to not tell people to install the old software over the new as it will cause problems.

That solution he gave wasn't good, though I'm worried that you manually cleared out your C:\User\Webb\AppData\Logitech Gaming Software directory. Did you delete everything? Do you have a backup?

. What I would have advised doing was (and maybe you can still do this):

  • Try a system restore, verify if functionality was restored by rolling the system back to when 8.12 was installed/working. If you're fine, you can stop here, but I'd still take a stab at the rest.
  • Disable UAC temporarily to remove potential permissions conflicts
  • Manually clear out the %TEMP% folder
  • Reinstall the Visual C++ 2008 redistributable now
  • If you still have your settings.json file in C:\User\Webb\AppData\Logitech Gaming Software, try renaming it to settings.bak
  • Right click on the installer and run it as administrator

If the problem persists and you have an ATi GPU (May happen with nvidia, but I've only seen ATi cause headaches), make sure LGS is closed, open up the settings.json file (the new one) then:

  • Find the line "useOpenGL" : true
  • Change it to "useOpenGL" : false

Save file, reboot, then open LGS again. Rebooting is important because LGS will not link some dlls that have caused conflicts in the past.

ashemedai - What level do you have your UAC set to?

Also, if you can link me to more posts with this problem. I'm not really seeing this when I dig through the support contacts, and so it would be helpful to see more cases of this.
