Re: LGS 8.20 is now available for your G-Series Keyboard

I've been holding off installing LGS for years, but I decided to give this new version a try. Big mistake.

First of all, I couldn't remove the old version 3.06 properly, wouldn't uninstall (some *.msi error) and the 8.20 installer didn't remove the old software, rather installed itself in parallel.

So after sorting that out, disabling drivers using Autoruns, I realize that the **bleep** LGS doesn't survive a sleep (STR/S3) cycle. The software responds, but the display is dead (showing the G15 place holder). G-keys work. I disabled all the applets execept for the 3rd party LCD Miscellany 0.4.5.1. A bonus problem is that LGS also somehow prevents LCDMisc from loading itself using its .exe method, bypassing the whole wortless LGS.

So now I stopped LGS from running (losing the G-keys obviously) and I just run LCDMisc64.exe directly. The applet seems to work fine on its own, survives S3 and all.

Re: LGS 8.20 is now available for your G-Series Keyboard

I have issues with the LGS 8.20 too. When first installed didnt have any issues at all. Few days ago i cehcked for updates inside the software and it downloaded an upgrade. Ever since that upgrade got installed my LGS just doesnt run.

LCore.exe runs, but no software window can be seen. G-keys Works (both for my G19 and my G930) but only the default built-in of G-Keys functions. Backlight for the G19 or G13 doesnt work either, the main problem being i cant access LGS.

Already tried unnnistalling and reinstalling. Which both ocurred with no errors but fixed anything, as soon as i finish re-installing, LGS doesnt show up and i end the same.

I'm running all this on an Alienware M15x Laptop, CPU: i7 1.78, RAM 8 GB RAM,GPU: Nvidia GTX 460M, OS: Windows 7 Ultimate

Re: LGS 8.20 is now available for your G-Series Keyboard

I had an issue where I tried 8.20 and it caused issues with my Monitor and also kept chiming like hardware install, every time I booted into Windows.  So I removed it and reinstalled 3.06 and nothing worked.  I did make it work...but you have to be patient and brave.  Simply uninstall ALL Logitech software.  Then go into registry editor...Start...accessories....run and type "REGEDIT"

Once there...do a search for Logitech and delete any and all keys...hitting F3 each time you are done with one.  There are about 10-12 that won't delete...won't make any difference...just make sure you get as many as you can...

THEN...

Go into C:\Program Files\Common and delete the Logitech directory.  Then do the same for C:\Program Files (x86)\Common...

You should be pretty cleaned up at that point.  Once I did this...I reinstalled 3.06 and all is working properly...

Re: LGS 8.20 is now available for your G-Series Keyboard

I've been using this version of the software on my gaming PC with my G19 and G13 for a while now and this software has problems. First, Windows Side Show (Color), Windows Performance Monitor, Logitech LCD RSS Reader, Logitech LCD Picture Viewer, Logitech LCD POP3 Monitor, Logitech LCD Countdown Timer, and Logitech LCD Clock, are all missing. The switch to next applet button also does not function. I installed this set on a friends computer who has a Logitech G15 and everything appears to work with that keyboard.

It's been a while since you released this terribly buggy software. How about an update that un-wrecks things?

Re: LGS 8.20 is now available for your G-Series Keyboard

You have to do a clean uninstall first of the old version, then run the installer for the new version. Do note that resume from standby or hibernate will cause the applets to stop working. You have to go to taskbar, exit the LGS, make sure it is closed. Then run the program from start menu.

normal usage is far. Though support from standby is gone since day 1 of the LGS code. If ya need resume, ya need to install version 3.

Re: LGS 8.20 is now available for your G-Series Keyboard

[ Edited ]

Ok so far so good, I was at 3.03 for a long long time and now I said ok I'll give it a try.

I don't have that resume from sleep issue, I tried it 3 times and it started every time.

Also I don't use any special G-key shortcuts, so I can't tell if there is a issue or not. I had only saved profiles from 3.03  (web, mediaplayer, mycomputer, calculator) and all work fine. :smileyhappy:

 ------

Now for the buggy parts:

I can't invert display color, only dimm and contrast, or is it hidden some place else?

Media application switching works (winamp or kmplayer or wmp12), but it doesn't auto switch to foreground, still. I mean is this issue never going to get fixed?? :smileyindifferent:

Logitech driver team, the last working version is LGPS is 2.17, I got this driver with keyboard back in 2008..

working foreground app.png

Why don't you inspect this release and see what so different that makes it work and auto switch from clock to media info when you Start winamp or any other media player.

I would use it in win7 too, that screenshot is from winxp (I use dual boot), but its too old and missing something in devicemanager, I can't remember anymore..

Thanks

EDIT: no wait, now it loses focus and switches to clock after 5min or so.. Or if i switch between the songs using FF/REW key on keyboard, when i stop it switches to clock. Looks like i'll go back to 3.03 again.. ah well, i hope you get it fixed soon.

Re: LGS 8.20 is now available for your G-Series Keyboard

I fully uninstalled the old software and rebooted the computer before installing the new version. I am 16 year PC tech. I don't do silly things like installing new drivers right over the top of old ones. I tried installing a previous version and things worked as they did when I used that version. (whichever version was released before 8.20) This version has all kinds of problems. As I said all those apps I listed are just not here. And I cannot switch apps either using the switch to next app or using the list. It just does NOT work. The only thing I haven't tried is doing a clean reinstall of this OS but I am not doing that now.

For me, and maybe I am alone, these drivers are garbage. Most of the apps are missing and I can't switch from one to the other. Not to mention all the other problems other people seem to be having with them. Time for an upgrade Logitech! These 8.20.74 drivers stink!

Re: LGS 8.20 is now available for your G-Series Keyboard

Here's a tip to get LGS 8.20.74 running for some users with XP32, and a few bugs.

Logitech Hardware:
Logitech QuickCam Pro 4000
Mx518 Mouse
G15 Keyboard

Logitech Software:
Quickcam 10.5.1.2029
Setpoint 6.32.7, Driver 5.33.14
LGS 8.20.74

Windows XP Pro SP3 32bit

1.  Logitech Gaming Software Install Problem:
There's an error in the installed LGS "run" registry key.

When viewed in RegEdit, the "Launch Lcore" key looks like this:
C:\Program Files\Logitech Gaming Software\LCore.exe /minimized

The path is missing double quotes, so when I reboot the computer I get an Explorer window to "C:\Program Files\Logitech".
Obviously, LCore doesn't start, either.

The path and executable should be enclosed in double quotes, like this:
"C:\Program Files\Logitech Gaming Software\LCore.exe" /minimized

From a ".reg" file perspective, the wrong key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"Launch LCore"="C:\\Program Files\\Logitech Gaming Software\\LCore.exe /minimized"

should have been coded to read:
"Launch LCore"="\"C:\\Program Files\\Logitech Gaming Software\\LCore.exe\" /minimized"

2.  I have problems with the G15 Logitech Media Player when used with Windows Media Player.
LGS occasionally has trouble identifying when the player is opened or closed.  The keyboard media keys always work, though.

3.  LCore occasionally hangs on shutdown.

Cheers!

Re: LGS 8.20 is now available for your G-Series Keyboard

Hey Charles,

I haven't updated my software for several months, and I'm keen to find out all the new features. Where can I find a complete changelog? I was previously running v7.0.291 IIRC.
