Logitech Media Applet issues, not smart, not loading properly on boot/sleep

Hello everyone,

This is my second post. My first query is posted there which talks about a different issues (macro keys).

First post

In this post, I want to ask something in regard to the LCD panel applet of the G510. When I play a music (on iTune), the Lpgitech Media Applet does not pop up automatically. Instead I have to go into the G-software and in "customize LCD panel" tab, I have to untick then retick the Logitech Media Applet (while the music is playing)... the software does not start automatically.

Also, when I have two applets running (lets say with the clock), I switch to clock, then I skip to next track, why does the Media Applet not switch back automatically? I thought the LCD panel is smart enough to switch back when I pause/play or skip a music, but alas it does not seem like it

I am currently on firmware 0x0165, is there a newer one available that makes my LCD panel load applets smarter? Especially the Media Applet, I think that is where I will use my LCD for. To have it smartly switch to it when I need it will be very helpful.

I don't want to go to the G-software having to Untick then Tick, it so cumbersome. The fact that the Logitech media applet does not switch automatically, I unticked all the applets so it does not cycle.

Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Ashkeroth,

I see that you are having issues with the media applet on your G510, you posted that you have the 0x0165 firmware installed. It would be really helpful if you could provide with the  Logitech Gaming or GamePanel Software version that you have installed and the OS you are on.

Looking forward to your reply,

HI Paulina,

Sorry for the late reply. My Logitech Gaming software version should be the latest downloaded form the Logitech website which would be v8.35.

Is this the latest?

Re: Logitech Media Applet issues, not smart, not loading properly on boot/sleep

Hi Ashkeroth,

Yes, that is the most updated version of the LGS. Since you are having issues with the LCD applications I suggest you try with this troubleshooting:

  1. Close lcore.exe through Task Manager
  2. Browse to C:\Users\%USER%\AppData\Local\Logitech\Logitech Gaming Software
  3. Delete Settings.json
  4. Restart the PC
  5. Manually launch the applets in C:\Program Files\Logitech Gaming Software\Applets

Please let me know how that goes,

Re: Logitech Media Applet issues, not smart, not loading properly on boot/sleep

Hi Paulina,

I have tried what you suggested, but I am not sure when you mean by launching the applet. The Logitech media LCD is bundle with the LGS, I am not sure exactly where it is.

Also, I want to point out everytime I resume from sleep my macro keys do not work at all. The Time also freeze (does not continue counting). For example if I slept at 15:56:40, when I resume, the second remains at 40. The qwerty board works fine, but macro and the Media panel on the top right hand corner do not work.

Re: Logitech Media Applet issues, not smart, not loading properly on boot/sleep

Hello Ashkeroth,

I'm sorry for being vague, I meant if you could launch them from the LGS.

About the macro keys not working after the computer comes back to sleep, sometimes when the computer goes to sleep the power that goes through the USB ports decreases. In order for the keyboard to work properly the USB ports need to be fully powered even when the computer is sleeping.

Maybe that is what is causing this issue, could you please try this:

  1. Go to: Start> Control Panel>System and Maintenance>Power Options
  2. Click on: Create a new power plan.
  3. Choose a name for the new plan, Click next
  4. Select time for the display to turn of and the time to wait before putting the computer to sleep and click on create.
  5. Under the new power plan, click on the option that says: Change settings for the plan.
  6. Click on the UBS settings, and change the settings so the USB ports won't go to a low power mode when computer is sleeping.

Please let me know how that goes,

Re: Logitech Media Applet issues, not smart, not loading properly on boot/sleep

My Power Option setting is on "High Performance".

Under USB suspended setting I have it set on 'Enabled". Should I set it to DISABLE?

Now a new issue arised, some macro keys when I set it, does not work. Curious enough, when I open the LGS software (the keyboard picture popping up), the macro keys works perfectly! I think there is definately some bug with the software itself. But that does not rule out my unresponsive W+Shift issue.

I have received a RMA return permission, but in my perspective, I try to avoid the journey when I can, so please allow me to use it for a bit and report further problem in this post.

I mean, the keyboard typing is fantastic, and I do not know why the macro keys, etc. are playing up. In game also, I just keep standing there all the time even after fully pressing the key all the way down (so hard, that I felt that if I go any harder, I will permanently damage the key - an imagery to depict how hard I am pressing my W)

Hi Ashkeroth,

I see that you already have the power options on High Performance mode. But please try to disable the USB suspended setting, and verify if the issue is still occurring.

Regarding the Macros not working unless the LGS window is open. Please try this:

  1. Launch Cmd (Click Start > [search] Enter cmd)
  2. Enter set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1
  3. Enter devmgmt.msc [Device Manager will launch automatically].
  4. In Device Manager, click View then click Show hidden devices.
  5. Unplug the keyboard.
  6. Expand the Human Interfaces Devices, Keyboards and Universal Serial Bus controllers sections
  7. Select each USB instance where the USB icon and name are grayed out (these are connections of devices that are not currently connected to the PC) and press Delete.
  8. Uninstall Logitech Gaming Software.
  9. Download and save the LGS.
  10. Reinstall Logitech Gaming Software after a clean boot.
  11. Reconnect the keyboard.

In case the W+shift issue is hardware related, this trouble shooting might help to correct it.

Please let me know how that goes,

  1. Launch Cmd (Click Start > [search] Enter cmd) Done
  2. Enter set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1 Done
  3. Enter devmgmt.msc [Device Manager will launch automatically]. Done
  4. In Device Manager, click View then click Show hidden devices.Done
  5. Unplug the keyboard. Done
  6. Expand the Human Interfaces Devices, Keyboards and Universal Serial Bus controllers sections Done
  7. Select each USB instance where the USB icon and name are grayed out (these are connections of devices that are not currently connected to the PC) and press Delete. There is no DELETE option. THere is only UNINSTALL. I did so for gray out icons. There were in total 4 of them that I uninstalled.
  8. Uninstall Logitech Gaming Software. Done
  9. Download and save the LGS. Done
  10. Reinstall Logitech Gaming Software after a clean boot.I Unchecked load start up item > Services > Hide all microsoft services > then press DISABLE all. I boot up in a terrble state, I had no LAN, the visual was messed up (brought back to Window 98 classic theme). So I enabled the diagnostic startup and I am typing you now...Installing the program as I speak. Also, I did not get the "Do you wish to restart now" message after clicking OK in the msconfig. I had to restart it manually (start > restart)
  11. Reconnect the keyboard. That was done oncee I managed to boot into diagnostic mode

In case the W+shift issue is hardware related, this trouble shooting might help to correct it.

I have tried Power Option > Disable the USB settings > resume sleep > the clock and macro keys (still) do NOT work. Suprising enough, when you told me to unplug the keyboard after at step 5, I need to plug it back for step 8 to access msconfig (otherwise how could I type the word in the search menu?). So, when I plug it back for step 8; the clock resumed back again.

Will post EDIT when I installed the program.

EDIT1: Reinstalled the LGS. The profile was there, and the itune G16 key did not work. I will try fitting it with the same shortcut that works, let's say Firefox which was set to my G14.

EDIT2: assigning any shortcut on G16 did not work. There is something wrong with that key. The macro only works when I actually have the LGS open (as bringing to the front, literally open, doesn't matter if it's open in taskbar and use firefox, the macro still does not work).
