Sorry if this is a double post, i'm not sure which forum is best to send this problem to...

i used the M$ "Fix it" program for usb drives (yunno how sometimes suddenly Windows can't see a usb key you've plugged and unplugged dozens of times before?)

i wanted to fix that issue with this program : http://www.addictivetips.com/windows-tips/usb-fix-it-official-microsoft-tool-to-repair-removable-dev...

and instead it corrupted my usb keyboard installation.

i've removed the LGS software, rebooted and reinstalled it, still same error message.

How do it fix this ?

If you are using Windows 7, you could try turning off UAC or stop LGS from running at start up and start it manually.

If I have not addressed your issue, please clarify with details of your operating system and exactly when you see the error.

Hi Cintech, the UAC is off on my Vista box.

the problem started hapenning after i ran the m$ fix it tool to remove some fantome usb drives that made windows not recognise them. 

it removed some high/low software filters, now i need to reinstall them.

Reinstalling just LGS and the VC2008 patch as suggested by Jay at logitech support did not fix the issue.

i'm also gonna try another method which is to boot with no services and programs, reinstall lgs completly and see if that does anything but i highly doubt it, i bet the filters are part of the OS and not part of the lgs or c++ patch.

solved: turns out the settings.json file in the app data folder was 260MB !

no idea how it got that big but once deleted everything worked again.
