New G series?

Looking at the 'G series bundle' a couple weeks ago I noticed a price drop from $280 to $235; Then more recently I noticed the keyboard and the game pad are out of stock. I sent an email asking about this with no response however.. now I noticed an error occurring on the checkout process. Are these put on hold? Are they getting rid of inventory and not resupplying? Is it all because a new product cycle is under way? The current G series is almost exactly at their 1year mark. The ultimate question for me is wait or pull the trigger? These items are all at a marked up price and I need know I wont be buying a soon to be obsolete model; Need to make the correct choice. I am looking for a flat out answer like 'No new G Series is coming in the immediate future' would be much appreciated. Thank you very much.

Re: New G series?

Hello,

I am using a G15 but I cannot use 2x usb ports on the G15 at the same time because the usb hub cannot provide enough power. Then I found out G19 uses external power and the usb ports are 2.0 instead of the usb 1.0 ports on the G15. I was wondering if there is a usb 3.0 version of G19 coming in the near future. I would like to connect my usb flash drivers with my keyboard because.it;s more convenient for me.

Any insight?

Re: New G series?

I doubt it.  certain motherboards (notably X58 chipset boards) have problems with keyboards plugged into USB 2.0 ports.  for an example of the problems that this can cause, take a look at the G19/X58/Win7 sticky thread at the top of this forum.

I don't imagine that USB 3.0 would improve the situation any.

Re: New G series?

I am going to buy a new PC and I would like to use the Intel's DX58so motherboard.

So, do you think if I purchase a G19 will solve my problem. Oh, my G15 is conneced to a usb1.x port now because it's a Dell Optiplex 755... sigh x0

[ Edited ]

if you're getting an X58 system, then I personally wouldn't recommend the G19.  you're probably better off keeping your G15, or getting a G510.

if it were me, I'd keep the G15 and augment it with a G13.  in my opinion, the G13 combined with any other keyboard (even a non-Logitech keyboard) is more useful than any keyboard alone (no matter how fancy).

for your USB power issues, just get a separate powered USB 2.0 hub, and remember to never plug your keyboard into it if you're using an X58 system.
