As a side note, I would also suggest adding this functionality to the wingman profiler software for joysticks. This would allow games that do not recognize the joystick at all to be played with a joystick using full emulation of mouse and keyboard controls.
This feature is already a part of the gamepad Profiler software. Click on the axis you wish to modify, click on "Axis Properties" and choose the apporpriate mouse axis from the "Axis mapped to" dropdown box.

I just came to this thread with a vague interest in the G13, wondering how the thumb stick felt and worked for movement in MMOs like WoW, WAR and so on, but I now feel compelled to register and post just to point out how glad I am to have read this.
I always found Logitech's kit sturdy and reliable - I had an original G15 with flip-up LCD, and now use the newer G15, G9 and slightly-longer-named "Digital Precision PC Gaming Headset" religiously - and already rate them highly from a hardware POV. The wide scope of responses, moderation and attitudes I've seen from the Logitech guys who've posted in this thread have instantly made me feel the same about their respect for customers.
It sounds like the original configuration of the stick will suit my needs fine without analogue, but I can see why many people would be surprised at its absence in this peripheral. Still, the way you guys have taken in this feedback and responded openly and as much as you are allowed to do so, and moderated certain posts minimally and respectfully, is a quality seen increasingly rarely these days.
I know this doesn't contribute much to the thread, I'm not advanced enough to say anything about this device that's not been said already anyway, but it's too easy to voice our criticisms and forget to do the same for praise when it's due. Kudos to you CharlesB, Chris_P and Logitech.
Thanks to you, that G13 is starting to sound like a worthy addition to my collection of Logitech peripherals!
PS: Any chance you could talk to the "Product Naming" dept and get them to give that "Digital Precision PC Gaming Headset" a more keyboard-friendly 3-character name like the G range? ;D

Aetyr- How about G35? ![]()

And thanks for the kind words. The one thing that I like to remind people is that we here at Logitech are regular consumers as well, it does wonders for a tech company to be as open and as honest as possible.

Hmmm... I may have to keep an eye on G35 pre-order sites over here in the UK... ![]()
I think I just felt my wallet actually cringe! ![]()

What has bugged me over time, though, is a dearth of post-release product support, beyond making bug fixes in software and updating drivers for Vista. The profilers are a bit of a mess, and my audio card, though possesing incredible sound quality, has some strange inconsistancies at times which can be fairly aggravating and detrimental to gameplay. Furthermore, they have no official forums or tech resources on the site for reference past the standard FAQs, as far as I have ever found.
I was looking into a gameboard here recently, and as of yet have found none I would be willing to buy at the moment. Frankly, the analog stick idea is the number one reason for me to buy a board like the G13--I did in fact in years past play with a joystick in my left hand in FPSs for the benefit of analog movement, so it is a big draw for me.
I had to register on here to show my appreciation for the honesty, openness and real spirit of customer service that Charles and Chris have shown here. It goes beyond 'just doing your job' to a level where I have now spent the last few hours browsing your company's products to see if anything I may need would be best acquired from here, because I feel that the level of integrity displayed here truly deserve to be rewarded. I thank you and salute you both, sirs, for giving me hope that there ARE still decent people in the world, looking out to make things better however they can in what they do. I just wanted you to know that I have taken notice of your efforts and will likely be a customer in the fairly short term for your company's products because of those efforts.
On a different note, has anyone, in their experimental modding projects, ever considered adding an analog stick onto a mouse? I understand it could be a problem with a conflict in bindings, but I personally would love the continuous, even shift of an analog with the option of fine-tuning with a standard pointer, among other things. Just an idea I got while reading this thread.
Additionally, I must say that the G13 is about the nicest looking game board I have seen, other than the strange analog design. I will delight in seeing any future products in the line, especially knowing how truly the customers' ideas and complaints are considered.

My finger is literally hovering over the purchase button. I'm only waiting for official Logitech confirmation that the thumbstick will be mappable as a joystick in the near future, i.e. 3 months. Icing would be for it also to function as a mouse. I can't use the current joystick hack because I'm running the Windows 7 64-bit beta.
I just purchased a G9 and absolutely love the wheel. I'm also considering the Z-5500. Unfortunately, I'm not too fond of my Logitech wireless Wave desktop: unlike my Bluetooth Apple keyboard, it doesn't have a readily available keyboard condom to protect against both rampant pet hair and my general slovenliness -- if only the G13 had an iSkin-like impermeable protector.
I'm also worried because several threads on this board indicate that the G13 has problems with Fallout 3.

Aw cmon people , seriously its an excellent gamepad , personally it just looks like it was made for my hand , i don't find the joystick un-comfy what-so-ever and i find no cons really , it just gets alot of dust like everything in this room.
But the G13 has capatibilities to have a better joystick , just needs new drivers i think.

Oakman- Unfortunately, I've been boxed around the ears enough that I never quote dates or timelines anymore, BUT implementation of analog input WILL be released for the G13. It's inevitable ![]()
Of course, mind you, a fair bit of PC FPS/MMO/RTS games do not support analog-style input beyond the mouse, so you can still use the thumbstick by mapping it to traditional WASD movement keys, and go from there.

Made an account to add to the pile or users that really want this feature to be added and added soon.
I bought this thing to replace a Saitek CCU, and I had to go back. I am extremely happy with the overall build of the device. But unfortunately for me, and I am sure a lot of others the, analogue "hat switch" as it is now, cannot just easily be 'tricked' into being the "Programable Analogue Joystick" as advertised on the packaging and websites. Some games just don't work that way.
I am really shocked that you Logitech, dropped the ball on this one. Your standards are usually A LOT higher than this... As my father's words have never rang so true:
"Why is it, no one ever has the time to do it right? And yet, they always find the time to do it over?"
Fix this thing sooner rather than later please. I shouldn't have to resort to using some half baked fix offered by your community. If they can do it in their spare time, you could support an official version in no time. Just cannibalise the driver section from one of your game pads. If the QA cycle is "Too long" as stated (Ironic statement if this oversight slipped through in the first place) then just release a beta version to the public in the meantime with no garuntees.
I am a fool. You tricked me into buying half of a G11 for 2x the price. That's great marketing; but you're a technology company... Make the technology...
P.S. When you find the time, can you possibly slip in support for "Button" inputs (direct input?) to be mapped to keys? Like the ones that are on standard game controllers?
