Et depuis impecable.

You solved my problem!! :smileywink:

--> So I started looking around and..... to my surprise I've found json configuration file with a similar size: HERE ---> C:\Users\XXXXXX\AppData\Local\Logitech\Logitech Gaming Software\settings.json

I've tried the things suggested. Deleting the json file did nothing for me. Uninstalling, disable UAC, reinstalling and so forth only work temporarely, until Windows found an update on Microsoft Visual c++ 2008, which screwed things up again, so the problem might be related to this update.

However, what did work for me, was to give LCore.exe privilege to run as administrator - if people don't like turning UAC complete off, this is a neat way to bypass the problem. I'm confident Logitech didn't include malware in the setup file, so I don't believe that it would cause a security issue doing so.

Re: Runtime Error when opening Logitech Gaming Software 7.0

My job would immediately become terrible if there was malware in our software :smileysad:

That being said, we're look at ways to improve this in LGS 8.30, and anything that's found after that will be rolled into another later iteration.

By improve you mean make functional I'm hoping?

Just picked up a g400 mouse to use with my g13, g15, and g930. After trying every suggestion here I finally got the LGS 8.2 to load without a runtime error. At that point it promptly killed the g13 and g15 (displaying the time that the software booted, no access to profiles) and I could not actually get any response from the LGS 8.2 software. The process was there in Task Manager, but that's the only way I knew it was running.

So of course, I restarted it... and now the runtime error is back. I think from the list of basic gear here you can tell I generally like Logitech Products. This is some pretty massive fail though guys. I'm going to try the 8.0 version a few people have mentioned. If that goes as well as this I'll be uninstalling all of this and going back to the old profiler software. It actually worked and there's not a whole lot I really need that the mouse software was likely to do.

Re: Runtime Error when opening Logitech Gaming Software 7.0

Anytime you see this many people coming to a forum reporting  similiar problem in installation, pretty much tells you there is a problem with the software and it is not an isolated incident.  For every user that actuallys posts, there are probably another 10 users that experienced the same problem, read the forums, saw everyone else having trouble and revereted back to 3.06 and never posted on the forums.

The fact that this issue is many many months old now ought to be pretty embarrassing to Logitech. They don't appear to care though given that we have seen little updates on here other than uninstall/disable UAC/install .net/etc..  and we have yet to see a new revision of the software.

This.

I´m already telling friends to consider not to buy Logitech-Products because of this. A company who´s support-team suggests to disable the security-features of my operating-system because their software is crap can´t be a good one.

Re: Runtime Error when opening Logitech Gaming Software 7.0

This issue appears to happen with limited systems, and in every .dmp file I've obtained from customers, there's been a system-level permissions OR a corrupted settings.json file issue at play. The only time I've been able to replicate it myself was on my girlriend's gaming laptop, and it was resovled by updating the video card drivers (I actually, and literally, left at lunch, sped home, stole her laptop, and came back to give it to the QA guys, and when we checked the dump, it was a GPU issue).

Back on topic, if there's a system level issue at play, and if I think temporarily disabling UAC then running the LGS installer as Admin will work around these issues, then that's something I'll recommend. You can also try deleting the settings.json file that a prior user recommended. That'll nuke the backlight and pointer settings, but it wont touch your installed profiles. If you do that, right-click>exit LGS from the taskbar, browse to C:\Users\%USER%\AppData\Local\Logitech\Logitech Gaming Software, then rename the settings.json file to settings.bak, then relaunch LGS.

Well, to stay on topic:

UAC is completely disabled on my system.

I've nuked (in order of attempt) the actual .json file, the entire LGS folder containing the file, The entire Logitech AppData folder. None of these had any effect.

More ridiculous is that you actually know at this point that people are having an issue but don't provide options for older software for download in some cases. For instance, with the G930 (headset) you can no longer download the original software easily from the logitech site. The only software available for download is the LGS 8.2 software from the main downloads page. If you happen to know the FTP repository you can access and download it, but most of your customers won't know that.

You have mulit-page threads in multiple forums showing the exact same issues with this latest revision of your software. Having it be an ongoing issue for months at a time without any real forward progress is a bit ridiculous and stating that you will hopefully improve it with the next - as yet unannounced - release doesn't provide much comfort.
