Zune LCD Applet (for G15 and G19)

[ Edited ]

Hi everyone!

I was wondering why there is no applet for the great Zune Software from Microsoft? Well at least I could't find any, so I decided to make one by myself. :smileyhappy:

But well I don't wanna bore you with my story. From what I've seen there are some guys looking for an applet like this so here is my first public beta.

It is not perfect yet and I still have many ideas to extend and improve it, but it would be great if anyone would like to take a look at it and please tell me what you think.

The good news is, I've made 2 seperate applets, one for the monochrome LCD (G15, G13 and Z10) and one for the color LCD of the G19, with animations and everything.

For more details take a look at my screenshots form the the Logitech LCD Emulator. All further details of the installation and usage etc. are explained in the Readme.txt contained in the ZuneLCD.zip download package. :smileyhappy:

Some screenshots of the monochrome applet:

Some screenshots of the color applet:

And here is the download link for the Zune LCD v0.2 beta: http://mevoso.com/zunelcd/ZuneLCD.zip

If you have any suggestions or found any bugs, please leave a note or PM me. Thanks!  :smileywink:

Update v0.2 beta:
I've made a major update for the G19 applet. It now has a second page where you are able to scroll through the entire "Now Playing" playlist and jump directly to that song by pressing the OK-button.
Use the left or right softbutton to switch to the other page, on the 2. page with the track list you can then use the up/down buttons to scroll through the list and then press the OK-button to start playing from the selected track.
The other buttons also got new functions attached, please take a look at the readme or try them out for yourself. :

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been looking for something like this since I got my zune hd.

Not having the LCD display is the ONE weekness that the Zune player has against anything else, and with this app its flawless.

Running it on G19 and I have to see it surpasses all expectations.

Thanks for this great app man.

Is there a way so that when you uncheck show zune pass content the new list is reflected on the LCD

Hey man  fan-#@$%ing-tastic app you've made here, works great. Idea for improvement though; a like/dislike button. If you wanted to get really creative you could do something like the Trillian App and have menus and type-in features so you could actually seach for songs and artists but basic is nice too, I could just really use a like/dislike button to make weeding out crappy songs easier.

That is for the monochrome BTW.

Re: Zune LCD Applet (for G15 and G19)

This no longer seems to work for me with the 8.0 software.

Looking at the developer page http://zunelcd.codeplex.com/ It's sad to see it looks like its been abandoned.

Is it still working for anyone else?

I'm wondering if it's something on my end, or if I can only use it with the legacy software.

I wish someone would pick it up, but I highly doubt it since the zune never really took off and its kind of a niche market.

Re: Zune LCD Applet (for G15 and G19)

No it's not abandoned yet :smileyvery-happy: I'm currently working on a fix and some new features, the updated version should be ready by tomorrow! :smileywink: With the new version you can see and change the track ratings. I also wanted to integrate a search function for the color version (G19), but unfortunately the Zune API won't let me do that or I just can't figure that out... to bad because I already implemented a keyboard text input for the LCD. :/ But at least the updated version will run with the latest Zune version, if anyone is still using my app xD

Re: Zune LCD Applet (for G15 and G19)

Are you using the current LCD driver (Logitech Gaming Software) or the legacy driver (GamePanel Software)? I've got reports that the color applet might not work with the current driver, I've tested only the legacy one so far and its working with with the "old" driver.. I didn't really noticed the new driver because it's not available via the Logitech update, so I need to test that separately, but I guess Logitech changed something there so it's not working out of the box.
