g15, setpoint, another ps2 keyboard

Hi!

I have G15 (version 1) and MX Revolution.

Setpoint and g15 software(game panel and keyboard profiler) installed.

I just wonder what will happen if I attach old PS2 (logitech keyboard) while keeping g15 attached also.

I assume Setpoint will recognize it?

And will it be some problems with two keyboards at the same time?

Like boot, bios, who is primary, etc.

BTW if I had 2 logitech keyboard that both use Setpoint (not in this case) will some conflict occur (in ps2-usb and usb-usb situation)?

Re: g15, setpoint, another ps2 keyboard

There isn't any problem with having two keyboards attached at a time. My old PC tower only did BIOS edits with PS/2, so I permanantly had a PS/2 keyboard plugged in the back.

On that note, make sure your PC is powered off before plugging in that PS/2 keyboard! Oh, and SetPoint doesn't recognize the G15.

Thanks, I feel safer now:smileyhappy:

Yes I know that g15 does not use Setpoint, question was will old keyboard work with Setpoint without problems. From your answer I suppose it will.

For your old PC, I had similar problem, removing one PCI card fixed "only PS/2" problem. Maybe some IRQ conflict?

Anyway, Thanks

Assuming your keyboard is actualy supported by SetPoint (some older PS/2 Keyboards are not) then SetPoint should recognize it and you should be able to use it side-by-side with the G15. If you've used that keyboard with SetPoint before you should be OK.

Just to echo that safety warning: NEVER plug in or unplug ANY PS/2-port device while the system is powered on. Those ports are NOT hot-swapable. Unless you're very lucky, you could permanantly dammage the hardware (the port, the device, or both) or even brick the motherboard.

Remember: USB ports are hot-swapable; PS/S ports are not.

You probably knew this already, but it beqars repeating for all the newbies out there. :smileyhappy:
