Hello :smileyhappy:

I just thought I'd point you in the direction of this thread. http://www.esreality.com/?a=post&id=1767295

If you do Ctrl + F for "Comment #137" you'll see a few users stating they have a very slight positive acceleration when moving fast. Any chance you guys can release a new firmware to possibly correct this? They say it's only minor but I thought I'd share it anyway.

(A bit of a hijack but the user has been helped and no real need for a new topic)

Thanks

there definitely is some accel

about 5% bigger distance or so while doing fast turns - try making a full slow turn with 35cm/360@400dpi ingame and then back very fast and you will surely notice that in the 2nd case the same distance is about 20degrees bigger.

this looks more like a sensor issue since this is absolutely the same for g500 and steelseries xai which has the same avago 9500 sensor, but i hope that it's fixable via firmware update since afaik the sensor is totally customisable, and if it's not possible ... ;(

and ye, i've got 1.1 already and it didn't help, no update for xai yet aswell,  though i made a ticket at steelseries support.

I have *just* purchased a G500 and have noticed this as well - the issue seems more pronounced for high dpi, which would imply that the mouse might only be tracking nonlinearly for the very first part of a fast snap turn (if the mouse tracks inaccurately in the first 5mm and your total translation for a 360 is 1cm, the %error will be much higher than if it takes 10 inches to do a 360). This is a major concern, and one that needs to be addressed or I'll have to return the mouse... I've been using a G5 rev1 for years and it does *not* exhibit this behaviour whatsoever, and it would be a shame to be unable to use the (otherwise great) new G500 due to a simple glitch that could very likely be fixed in firmware.

Sitting on windows desktop and (especially at high dpi) putting the cursor at the left edge of the screen, marking the left edge of the mouse with your finger, then slowly dragging right, then snapping left (without touching the left screen edge) and repeating a couple times should make the drift apparent - after doing this even a couple times, the mouse will return to the left edge of the screen at least a few mm before it reaches your finger again. As mentioned by others, the total error is somewhere around 2%-15% depending on settings, but it's enough to be a problem, and it essentially defeats the entire point of a mouse (an accurate *positional* sensor with high repeatability).

Any word from Logitech on this issue?

its would be nice if someone from they staff answer something on this matter....Otherwise this mouse is useless for me and i will probably bring it back at the store and get an old good g5.I  want to be able to turn off my accel completly without having to mess with my windows option or having to get a fix from the internet. Please bring back the setpoint option where we can use ingame sens only.......in 5.20.I will need this, its avoid a lot of trouble when we can use ingame accel or sens only.thanks

i have a g9x and there is some slight positive accel. it's making my aim very inconsistent in fps games. i have tried all possible options in setpoint and windows to get rid of it. i stumbled on this thread by chance and see the problem is with the sensor. firmware update is needed asap.

I'll be passing this up to QA for evaluation. I personally don't notice this, but I'm a naturally compensating gamer (I can switch between gamepads and mice/keyboards with minimal effects to accuracy, and I can adjust myself between standard and inverted look on both X and Y axes... Mouse acceleration at low-ish levels and no accel is indistinguishable to me). I'll pass this on to the guys who actually have the tools to get the raw data being streamed on the USB port and see what they can tell me.

So, the QA manager and I had a chat over the phone, and they'll be attempting to reproduce this. To make their jobs easier, I'd like people experiencing this to take screenshots of the following:

Their Windows mouse speed/acceleration settings. eg "Pointer Options" window in XP

Their SetPoint "Pointer" window for the profile you are using in game
