I'm using a Logitech G500 Gaming Mouse. I've got Quad Core Q8400 2.66 GHz and Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit.
When I move the mouse the CPU usage jumps up to an average of 14-23 %. Sometimes it would jump to 30%.
However, if I stop moving the mouse, the CPU usage goes back to 0% (in task manager). Start moving the mouse again, CPU usage increases again.
I am wondering if this is normal or not?
I have even scanned my PC with anti-virus software and it doesn't detect anything. Neither do I experience performance issues..

Okay, just noticed, this is perfectly normal!![]()
I tested it on my mums PC where she has a standard 125 polling rate mouse. CPU usage is 3%.
But with the G500 when set to 1000 polling rate it goes to an average 14-23% on her Windows Vista PC. Exactly the same result like on my computer with Windows 7.
So basically I discovered that decreasing the polling rate from 1000 to something as low as 500 or less will give only like 3-11% CPU usage on average. 1000 polling rate is basically the CPU eater!![]()
